This comes from the City of Hume website - http://www.hume.vic.gov.au/Page/Page.asp?Page_Id=2076 - (hope it's okay to post here) Media Release. Tuesday 13 July 2010 At Monday night’s Council Meeting, Councillors adopted the Craigieburn Town Centre Civic and Retail Precinct Development Plan submitted by Lend Lease. “The Development Plan is an excellent result for the community, as it provides a range of options for community life and reflects the key aspects of the Planning Minister’s Advisory Committee recommendations,” said Hume Mayor, Cr Geoff Porter. The Development Plan was submitted by Lend Lease, on behalf of the owners of the Craigieburn Town Centre site – Australian Prime Property Fund Retail and Lend Lease, in June this year. Council and Lend Lease have met on a number of occasions to finalise the Development Plan. “We are delighted to announce that together, we have reached agreement on the Development Plan for the Craigieburn community,” said Eleanor Purcell, Lend Lease Development Director - Retail. The Craigieburn Town Centre Civic and Retail Precinct Development Plan allows for: • A major activity centre for Craigieburn • A town centre five times the size of the existing Craigieburn Shopping Centre • 55,000 square metres of retail floor space and the potential for 20,000 square metres of commercial/office space • A portion of the site designated for recreation facilities • Areas for community life, including a town square and street focused activity • Future expansion provision as the population grows “We are appreciative of the support provided during this process by the Department of Planning and Community Development, Urbis Peer Reviewer, and the State Member for Yuroke, Liz Beattie,” said Mr Porter. “Subject to securing remaining approvals such as Planning Permits, Statutory and final owners consent, Lend Lease anticipate a start to construction of Stage 1 of the Craigieburn Town Centre in 2011,” said Ms Purcell. In addition to the provision of public realm infrastructure, such as town centre roads and substantial recreation land, the owners will also provide a parcel of land approximately 0.5 hectares in size for civic purposes on the corner of Central Park Avenue and Aitken Boulevard. Council and Lend Lease will continue to keep the community informed during the development stages of the process, and will initially hold community information sessions to present the Development Plan and discuss the vision it sets out to achieve over the coming weeks. Re: Highlands Estate Craigieburn 223Jul 30, 2010 1:26 am Thanks for the update Piper+1. We aren't building in Highlands but are interested in this development as we're building in Aitken Park, walking distance to the Craigieburn Town Centre. Now for confirmation of the construction of the length of Aitken Blvd from Somerton Rd right through to Mt Ridley Rd. Knowing my luck the section near our build will be the last section to be completed! Quote: Aitken Boulevard Council is excited to be working with Peet Limited, Stockland, and Delfin to construct Aitken Boulevard between Mt Ridley Road and Somerton Road, in a series of stages between now and 2013. Aitken Boulevard is aligned in a north-south direction and located between Mickleham Road and Sydney Road. Once complete, it will improve traffic flow and connectivity in the area while significantly reducing congestion for local residents. It will also act as a vital link between new communities in Craigieburn, providing easy access to schools, Highgate Recreation Reserve, maternal and child health centres, parks, shops and the proposed Craigieburn Library and Learning Centre. The road is being built with a greener and environmentally friendly future in mind, in the hope of reducing carbon emissions in the city. It will incorporate walking and cycling paths along the route and will have provision for public transport. Council is also advocating for public transport connections along this route to key destinations such as Roxburgh Park, Craigieburn Station and the Broadmeadows transit hub. This road section should be completed by 2013 and this will be an amazing transport link for residents in Mickleham, Craigieburn and Roxburgh Park. CONSTRUCTION OF AITKEN BOULEVARD This year Council will be undertaking the construction of three major sections of Aitken Boulevard in Craigieburn. These are: - Somerton Road to Silvester Parade, Roxburgh Park - Craigieburn Road to Marathon Way, Craigieburn (adjacent to the Craigieburn Town Centre site) - Candlebark Drive to Fairways Boulevard, Craigieburn Construction on the first of these is anticipated to commence in October 2010, with the other two sections being constructed in 2011. In addition, the developer PEET will complete the section from Silvester Parade to James Mirams Drive in 2011 as well. This will relieve traffic pressure on large parts of the local road network within Craigieburn and Roxburgh Park. The Council works will cost approximately $7.7 million, with the Roxburgh Park section being partially funded through the Federal Government’s Roads to Recovery Program. http://www.hume.vic.gov.au/Page/page.as ... d=1900&h=0 Building the Ascent 3000 with Burbank http://www.burbank.com.au/HouseDetails.aspx?houseId=82 viewtopic.php?f=31&t=39638 Re: Highlands Estate Craigieburn 225Sep 12, 2010 7:35 pm Hi we to are building in Aitken park with burbank and are waiting for council approval as well Re: Highlands Estate Craigieburn 226Sep 17, 2010 10:49 pm Hi neighbour, I was out there on Monday evening and noticed a few houses started. Most are at frame stage with a couple at or close to lockup. I only noticed one Burbank home started. When i called Telstra to signup for a tel line, i was advised that they wont be able to provide me with the copper tel line as the area has been selected for fibre rollout through NBN. They dont know when it will be rolled out. In the meantime they can only give me with an interim phone service (which is actually a mobile phone service) without internet. Dont know whats gonna happen, its a shame that when someone moved into their new house and find out that there is no guarantee of getting a proper telephone + adsl2+ service in this era. Feel sorry for myself and my neighbors going to move into their houses shortly Re: Highlands Estate Craigieburn 228Apr 29, 2011 4:13 pm Hi James...We are about to start our build process in Malcolm Creek too. We see ourselves (if all goes well) to be in our home before Christmas. I understand what it would be like without internet connection. Hopefully this is not long. So which stage of Malcolm Creek have you built in ? I am guessing this development about Fiber roll out for MC is very new......Did Telstra say who will be laying the fiber ? Is it Telstra or the NBN guys ? 26/2 - Sales 23/3 - Colours 31/3 - Tender 14/4 - Contract 7/5 - Taps 12/6 - Site start 15/6 - Slab 27/6 - Frame 1/8 - Lockup/Fixing 29/9 - PCI 25/10 - Handover Re: Highlands Estate Craigieburn 229Apr 29, 2011 6:06 pm James_smith I just moved in last week in Malcolm creek region of Highlands estate. Any chance anyone knows how much you guys paid for the Asset Protection under Hume Council ? I believe there r 2 parts to it...admin charges (non refundable) and some sort of levy which is refundable after the build process. 26/2 - Sales 23/3 - Colours 31/3 - Tender 14/4 - Contract 7/5 - Taps 12/6 - Site start 15/6 - Slab 27/6 - Frame 1/8 - Lockup/Fixing 29/9 - PCI 25/10 - Handover Re: Highlands Estate Craigieburn 231May 20, 2011 9:46 pm James_smith When i called Telstra to signup for a tel line, i was advised that they wont be able to provide me with the copper tel line as the area has been selected for fibre rollout through NBN. Nearly 4 weeks after contacting Telstra for a new phone connection I was finally told the same as you. All the way along I was told no problems, they even booked in a technician to come out to do the connection but he never showed up, they never bothered contacting me to let me know that they cancelled due to the above so I waited around for half a day for nothing. I'm still waiting on the interim phone, their courier company is crap too, either they * and didn't turn up on Tuesday or they couldn't even ring the door bell. I'm keen to hear if anybody has had problems with getting a broadband connection? I take an interest in it, as I work for an internet provider, and I live local in Craigieburn I was fortunate enough to get the first line connected in the CMUX/DLSAM in my estate. It took 3 months after moving into CB to get a phone hooked up, then a further 3 weeks to get ADSL. The Highlands Shopping centre is now coming close to completion (the original thread of this forum), and I've found there will be a Jetts Fitness and possibly a Gloria Jeans. The shop is due to open in the last week of this month, just in time to sell plenty of supplies for the Melbourne Cup. You can get more info about it over on my website http://www.craigieburn.net/ (hobby site). Re: Highlands Estate Craigieburn 233Oct 18, 2011 7:47 am Hey CC, once Telstra came to the party and cabled our area we got net connection pretty quickly, about a week after our fixed line connection, which was about 3 months after we ordered it. We have ADSL2. Are the internet speeds good? Thanks in advance! Are the internet speeds good? Thanks in advance! Aj If Telstra says that they dont have any spare ports available than pretty much no other ISP will be able to provide you with internet connection as all the internet connectivity in Highlands is done through CMUX/ISAM which means all the adsl/adsl2+ gear inside the on road housing cabinets are through Telstra wholesale. I would suggest you better look into this seriously as you dont want to end up in a brand new home without internet as myself and few others in this forum moved in to their new homes and lived without telephone+internet for 3 months+ (6 months for me). Living 6 months without telephone+internet almost convinced me to think that it was a wrong decision to build the house in craigieburn but i can say otherwise now as its all hooked up and i feel that i am living in modern age Re: Highlands Estate Craigieburn 236Oct 27, 2011 11:51 am Earlier this week, NBN announced they're rolling out starting this December in Craigieburn (Highlands) - intiially 118 premises are expected to be serviceable.
