Hope you have started fairy blue, would love to know your progress. What design you picked, plans etc etc Congratulations on your contract signing. Our building permit finally arrived last Friday (so much for early in the week) and they have started work!! I have a thread going in the Building A New House forum - Fairy Blues New Home. I have posted the plans, facade and site plan there, haven't gotten around to colour selections yet. Re: Everyone building a G.J. Gardner home... 31Mar 26, 2009 5:53 pm Ditto, congrats on signing your contract. That's such a big thing to get out of the way. Are you still going with the colours you posted in Thorney's Loft thread? Love them There is a GJ going up a few doors down from me. Double storey, they put the frame up in two days. I was amazed everytime I drove past. All the roof trusses (?) have been delivered now. Four weeks will fly Happy at Home Re: Everyone building a G.J. Gardner home... 32Mar 26, 2009 7:48 pm HTB: Yes we still "want" to go ahead with those colours but we will be seeking the professional opinion of the CC before we completly decide, she may laugh at me and tell me it will look ridiculous, so then we would have to choose another roof colour. Am hoping you are right and the 4 weeks does go quickly, it feels like its taking forever from the very start to now. We have been very pleased with their progress around our area also, they have put two houses up in the same time its taken NBG to put one up and it's still going...eeekkkkk Building Thread viewtopic.php?f=31&t=13002 Site start: 8th July 2009 Handover: 11/12/2009! 5 months total build time. 40 sqs of luxuary...Bliss! Re: Everyone building a G.J. Gardner home... 33Mar 26, 2009 9:13 pm Hi there, sorry to hear things didn't work out with NBG but glad you have moved on and very exciting times are ahead of you. NBG have been great for us and the sales consultant bent over backwards for us. Now that the build has started we have not heard from NBG for a while and are dealing with the building company directly. Will look forward to more progress reports from you. Re: Everyone building a G.J. Gardner home... 34Jun 18, 2010 3:27 pm Our experience with building with GJ Gardner To make a long story (5 years) short we had three builing inspections and the builder was taken to the licencing commission where he was found guilty of faulty work. Penalty who knows, they are still building and we still have the same problems. For as little as $50,000 we could take them to Vcat but who has that sort of money? The builder just ignores our pleas of help. Re: Everyone building a G.J. Gardner home... 35Jun 18, 2010 4:28 pm Hi Suzy, welcome to homeone. Sorry to hear your GJ Gardner experience isn't the best. It's not just the financial investment of building but the emotional investment we make in building our new home. Our build went smoothly, when you have different companies trading using the GJ Gardner name you never know who you will get. I'm sure you have gone down the path of bypassing the builder and talking to a head office in your state, they are usually interested in keeping their reputation. Good luck and I hope it all works out for you very soon. Five years is such a long time! Re: Everyone building a G.J. Gardner home... 36Jun 19, 2010 8:50 am Hi fairy blue, We originally tried to talk to thier head office, they were very threatening, that was before we took them to the building commission. Maybe we should try again this time send them a copy of the guily verdict. We still have the mans name we spoke to at Gardners and a copy of his conversation. We do not trust them. WE would like to sell and just make everything go away so we can start our lives again but we cannot sell a house I know is faulty, I think thats what they are hoping for, any bad publicity for them and we will never be able to sell. Thanks for your good wishes. Re: Everyone building a G.J. Gardner home... 37Jul 15, 2010 3:22 pm Hi everyone, Just had my first and last short-lived experience with GJ Gardner. I went to them with plans drawn up to see if the could build me my home. I had been quoted what I thought was too much from another builder and they told me they could come in about $20K cheaper, with all the bells and whistles I wanted with the other builder. Wifey and I were over the moon... for 2 days at least until we got the quote. For what was meant to be $20K cheaper came in $5K MORE from what the original builder came in at, and they even copied the exact floorplan!!!! When we questioned it, they stumbled upon answering and umm'd and aah'd and said just go with the other builder and pretty much fobbed us off just like that. Anyway, that was my experience. Everyone has good and bad experiences with different, and unfortunately mine turned out like this without a chance to even get off the ground! But good luck to you guys building with them, hope all turns out well for you. May I ask why you chose not to use GJ Gardiner? I'm actually meeting with one of the sales guys tomorrow for an appointment. Definitely not signing anything yet… 3 13258 We already paid for somfy motors for the blinds.
