Building Thread viewtopic.php?f=31&t=13002 Site start: 8th July 2009 Handover: 11/12/2009! 5 months total build time. 40 sqs of luxuary...Bliss! Re: Is this being realistic? 2Mar 03, 2009 7:10 pm We signed with PD last March (mid) lost four weeks before slab and then four weeks during the build due to theft etc and got handover on 19th Dec. We built 42sq double storey. They told us November when we signed up.
So yes it is possible! Happy at Home Re: Is this being realistic? 3Mar 03, 2009 7:12 pm it all depends on how fast their process is.... we have tender on the 13th and they are saying we will be in by nov/dec we have been looking at other people blogs and they have had their builds finished in 5-7 months from site scrape so if contract is 4-5 weeks post tender it works out!
So i wouldn't say it unrealistic at all! 2nd build here we come in Whittlesea! https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=92617 1st Build - Henley - Cooper in Doreen! If your site scrape starts within next 2 months, then I think Xmas is possible. Re: Is this being realistic? 7Mar 03, 2009 9:39 pm Yep, it's realistic indeed....
We had always set ourselves to be in our new home by X-mas, which mean't a build start no later than 1st June. All going well, our start will be early April (woohoo!) Like Helyn said, if site works start within the next 12weeks or so, and there is no major problems during the build, you'll be in well before X-mas Re: Is this being realistic? 8Mar 03, 2009 9:42 pm We started in June and were in by Xmas. So yes, realistic and possible, but don't hold them to it! "Your emotions are the slaves to your thoughts, and you are the slave to your emotions." — Elizabeth Gilbert Living in our new house. Re: Is this being realistic? 9Mar 04, 2009 9:18 am I'm hoping for a 4 month build for mine, but they pay penalties after 5 months so with a site start of may, if im not in my Christmas they will owe me a lot of money 'A bottle of wine contains more philosophy than all the books in the world.' If you can get past the early contract stage smoothly and quickly you'll have a better indication of wherea christmas is possibly. Usually they say a single story house can be built within 20 weeks Re: Is this being realistic? 11Mar 04, 2009 12:52 pm Lisanne: Can I be a bit personal and ask you
how much they have agreed to pay you per week over the contract date??? Advice from my solicitor was to put $1000 per week, would love a comparison if you wouldn't mind sharing please! Unless your rent is $1000 per week, you won't even begin to justify that amount to the builder. Unfortunately it's a situation where they can actually tell you to take what they're giving you or just don't build with them. Between interest and rent we are very close to that figure, If they don't agree to it, it's a pretty simple decision... I go elsewhere! It will depend on how much they want my business I guess! Thanks for the input though! I know it's all good and well to be idealistic but realistically there are quite a lot of builders (especially in NSW) who won't give you any more than $15 per day. I'd love to hit my builder up for all of the costs incurred otherwise I'd walk away but the fact is, this house is the only one I want to build so they basically own me Stevep79 & Principessa Finished building Wisdom Homes Impression 33mkII in The Ponds, Sydney http://lilypadintheponds.blogspot.com Re: Is this being realistic? 15Mar 04, 2009 1:09 pm up here gj gardner does a thing where they guarantee a 99 day build or you get a $10,000.00 cash refund, do they advertise anything like that in VIC? 2014 - Prepping to build the Soho 4 with Plantation homes, industrial style 2009 - Built the Brampton with Coral Homes viewtopic.php?f=31&t=15399&start=280 Re: Is this being realistic? 16Mar 04, 2009 1:17 pm Building with Coral 2009 up here gj gardner does a thing where they guarantee a 99 day build or you get a $10,000.00 cash refund, do they advertise anything like that in VIC? Now that's what I call putting your money where your mouth is, I like it! Only thing you have to do with a condition like that is to make sure you are in contact with the builder every single day checking whether work is happening and if it's not, the reason why. Last thing you want is for them to dispute the $10k due to wet days that didn't really happen.
