Browse Forums Building A New House Re: williams landing 1081Sep 07, 2010 7:57 pm I think we may have heard that! My OH thought something was being killed in the playground our dogs were going nuts - it didn't sound like howling from here! At least I can sleep a little easier knowing what it was Re: williams landing 1084Sep 09, 2010 9:27 pm Hi Guys, We are about to submit our Notice to Occupy which means we need to choose a garden design. We have a south facing block. Do we have to have the plants they list for a south facing block or do we get a choice? Can someone please tell us the process once it's submitted, do we get to speak to the landscaper before he order the plants? We don't like any of the south facing plants! Also, looking at the gardens that have been done, there doesn't appear to be too many trees that have been planted that are 2m high at installation. Has Cedar Woods changed their minds? Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. -------------------------------------- Building Sanctuary with Boutique Homes Williams Landing Re: williams landing 1085Sep 10, 2010 8:34 am roxy1210 Hi Guys, We are about to submit our Notice to Occupy which means we need to choose a garden design. In fact because we were at work when it was done we never saw a single person involved. My advice is to check the plants on all designs and pick the design that has the most plants suited to wet soil/clay soils - I wish we had. The lovely Williams Landing clay has very poor drainage and the landscapers do not remove any, just top dress with a few cm's of new soil. We have turned off our irrigation system but the plants are still struggling due to all the recent rain. I expect that most of us will see plants do ok for a year and then start to look a bit sick when they either get wet feet in winter or cannot penetrate the clay sub-soil in summer. Our plan is to see how it goes and if they die replace with new plants but placed a very large hole and fill with new soil/compost to give them the best chance. Good luck. Do they put weed mat down first? -------------------------------------- Building Sanctuary with Boutique Homes Williams Landing Re: williams landing 1088Sep 10, 2010 3:14 pm Tornado_ALIVE She is a very well behaved dog, but last night she howled a little. Sorry anyone who may have been disturbed. She does not bark and didn't howl when my sister owned her, however may be a little freaked out with her new surroundings. Doing a bit of reading at the moment to find a way to stop it if it does continue. I had a Mal, gorgeous dogs! She may have been howling at sirens. You probably can't hear them, but she can. My girl used to howl and we couldn't figure out why, then sometimes we would hear the siren if it came close enough and a few times we found out there had been accidents close by and we hadn't heard the sirens, but we figured out that she could. Just a thought, my breeder told us that a lot of Mals really hate them. She may able to hear them as far away as the freeway. We found that just offering her a bit of reassurance whn she howled worked a treat. I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. We found that just offering her a bit of reassurance whn she howled worked a treat. You might be right. She only howled one night and only briefly. We have implemented a few ideas also so it is hard to tell. We have but a towel with our sent on it in her kennel where she sleeps. We are also trying a few things to gain some dominance over her such as eating in front of her before she eats. Walking her beside us rather than in front. Ensuring we pass trough doors and obstacles before her. Ignore her for the first 1/2 hour when we wake up or return from work. After 4 days, it is already showing positive signs. For 4 years before we adopted her, she was 'top dog', had very little discipline and ran amuck. One great feature of Mals are they do not bark, so if we control the howling, then life will be easier for the neighbours. Re: williams landing 1093Sep 10, 2010 9:08 pm ^^^Wow, good work! Definitely a breed that will become boss if you don't show you are. Sounds like she's found a great home with you! I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. Terrence Malick Re: williams landing 1094Sep 12, 2010 2:30 pm Pretty bad form by Cedar Woods holding an open day without informing residents. They close of the streets around the display homes and despite creating a car park where the old sales office was, let prospective home buyers into the estate allowing them to park all over the front of residents nature strips. Hope no body was planning to move in today or get a truck down any of the streets. When Alamander had thier open day, only residential traffic was allowed through. I guess their developer is a little more thoughtfull then Cedar Woods. I know we have Westbourne Grammar for private. But, really interested in knowing the state primary schools and catholic schools.... Re: williams landing 1097Sep 17, 2010 9:55 am your best bet for schools at the moment would be either Tarneit, Laverton or Point Cook. Re: williams landing 1098Sep 17, 2010 10:36 am Truganina South Primary is opening next year just off Forsyth Rd in the Arndell Park estate.
