Kaytee
I called Cedar Woods today and this is their response to the question re phones and internet for stage 6. The receptionist was lovely and obliging but it isn't her fault, but things don't look good for stage 6 onwards. Yesterday I called Telstra (referred me to), Visionstream (and they referred me to) the contractor who dug the trench and connected from the pit to our house. The contractor was of the belief that the network cable was in but it wasn't looking good at all. Cedar Woods was our last hope. Like the rest of you I am really p155ed off.
“Telstra has ceased the rollout of copper infrastructure in anticipation of fibre infrastructure being installed as part of the Federal Government’s National Broadband Network (NBN) program. This has been a commercial decision by Telstra and not implemented by Cedar Woods. Telstra still has a universal service obligation to their customers and will provide you with wireless phone services in the interim until fibre is installed. Please call Telstra for further information.”
She also sent me this link to read.

I hope this is all wrong but I don't think so. We have paid for trench etc for nothing at the moment. arrrrgh

Dumbfounded.
So what did the contractor Connect you to then Kaytee? and why didn't Telstra just come out and say 'No copper- No can do' instead of the run around? Atrocious. So much for consumer choice! I suppose there was NO indication when NBN was going to be considered in the area, as wireless gets lethargic in peak times (and that's with those who choose it as a connection option let alone as a suburbs only option) it will be a long wait.
Even though it was Telstra putting it on hold it all goes back to Conroy and his dithering over all the NBN issues.
Have a read of this.
