My youngest is 7, so I don't really have the finger trapping worry, although I didn't realise that was an issue. I don't really see how it would be, though - the door is so wide, there's no way a child could reach across to open it, AND have his/her fingers trapped on the opening side....??? Plus, it's so heavy, a child would have to use both hands to pull it open .
Petal, it's not them getting their fingers jammed when they open it, it's todder's getting them caught on the pivot side when someone else closes it. Very easy to happen when an adult is chatting at the door and doesn't realise that the toddler has crawled up the hall behind them.
It was actually the first thing I thought of when I saw them, although I do love them. I think they are danderous. It wouldn't be a normal finger jamming, it could take fingers off easily.
They worry me with little kids, and I could see our dogs getting tails and feet caught very easily.
