Search Big M, M3tricon and so on... Annie A thankful person is a happy person. I had a great build with the Big M, and have been in my place for 2 years now. As stated you will see good and bad. Adrian B building with M 5Mar 04, 2009 3:05 pm Hi, we are building a very similar house to yours-the Tribeca 40. We found that our sales consultant was fantastic but once we got to head office it was very difficult. We were told things by our sales consultant that head office wouldn't do. We found our CSC to be lazy, incompetent, rude and inflexible-looking back i wish we'd requested another CSC after our first meeting. We ended up getting another CSC half way through as the first one went on maternity leave, and we were then getting a different story about things than the first one had said. Try and research as much as you can before going to head office and go higher up the chain if you aren't getting anywhere. We found they were just too lazy to find out things and just kept saying it wasn't possible despite us finding later it was possible. For example our CSC said there was no point trying to apply for a closer setback as the council wouldn't allow it-i spoke to the council and they were very accomodating and said we had a very good case for a closer setback. Our CSC said we could provide our own temporary fencing initially and then later denied ever saying it. Also see as many M houses as you can to see what is possible as we were told repeatedly we couldn't have a feature kitchen window directly under the overhead cupboards due to some building code-I went to the Balwyn M house and guess what-they have done it, so we are now trying to get them to do it for our house (which has stopped the building of our house for a week while they sort it out). We are hoping the building process and end product is a lot better than the head office experience. Re: met?icon builders victoria 6Mar 08, 2009 7:24 pm hi
we signed our m3tricon contract a few weeks ago. we thought our sales consultant was fabulous... until we got to the contract signing and found that a lot of things she told us, we untrue... when we queried these things, our sales consultant "can't remember every conversation i have with every client" she actually cost us a few thousand $$ with her ******/mistakes. needless to say we were extremely unimpressed. but we didnt have the time to go through the whole process again with another builder again so we signed anyway. we are hoping/praying that things will run a little more smoothly now. Our CSC said this is happening a lot with sales consultants in Vic. I'd be absolutely calling head office to confirm what your sales consultant says. all the m3tricon staff were apparently having a meeting a couple of weeks ago to sort out these problems... i hope they are now on the same page... Good luck! Re: met?icon builders victoria 7Mar 08, 2009 7:32 pm melissa81 but we didnt have the time to go through the whole process again with another builder again so we signed anyway. And this in a nutshell is why this industry operates in the unethical and ******* way it often does. Builder's know this, they count on this, and while people continue to stick around and accept it and sign anyway... the consumer will continue getting screwed at every opportunity. (Not picking on you melissa81.... just what you said struck a chord. ) And, don't count on things getting better once it goes to head office.... that's generally when things get worse. The time between signing and site start can be hell. I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. Terrence Malick Re: met?icon builders victoria 8Mar 08, 2009 7:45 pm joles i totally understand what you're saying. i think they are ******* as hell and rely on innocent people who know no better.
AND can you believe our CSC had the nerve to call US difficult! apparently we are difficult because of all their mistakes! im so annoyed that i didnt find this website until AFTER we had signed! Re: met?icon builders victoria 11Mar 08, 2009 8:01 pm Hi Cotbfamily,
We are almost complete building the Tribecca 40 with M3tricon in SE Melb. Whilst we were very frustrated by the sales and CSC process, and had to go to the state manager, once the build commenced we have found M3tricon to be fine. Any communication you have with them have it in writing, so follow up conversations with an email to summarise what was discussed. Once you have a build start date contact your SS (site supervisior), directly and build a rapport with them. Let them know you will be using an independent building inspector for the frame, pre plaster and final inspection, (search Big Kev), and that you expect to receive the top end tradies and results as you are spending the top end dollar. Hi Jspitz, Great choice of house!!!!! Which facade did you go with for your Tribecca 40? We have the Metro and will render the front pillar after handover. How far off completion are you? We hope to have handover in Three weeks. Cheers all PP denver31 12Mar 18, 2009 1:41 pm We are building the Denver31. We dealt with the sales team in Leopold (Geelong). Fantastic, same with all the staff at head office in Nth Geelong. They have all been very helpful and nothing appears to be too much trouble.
We made lock up in under 3 months and the work looks great. This is our 2nd build and I am much happier with this group than our previous. cheers Adrian Inverleigh, west of Geelong Re: met?icon builders victoria 13Apr 21, 2009 12:01 pm All l can say with my build of the Tribeca from start to finish is that M3tric0n are very un professional office workers and their supervisors don't know what they are doing and the tradies are just as bad, we have been in for over 7 months and they are sill fixing the mistakes.....lucky for them l don't own a newspaper or that l was a solicitor or they would be out of business..... l could go on and list everything about the process but would be writing for days.. Cheers Chris Re: met?icon builders victoria 14Jun 08, 2009 8:11 pm Anyone can advise what should we do if our sales consultant in Met?icon is not responsive to our emails? Here we are in overseas and wanting to build a Met?icon home in Point Cook and yet the sales consultant has continuously not relpying our email even though we have sent reminders. We have actually paid them a A$1000 deposit to do the soil test and now they are treating us as if they dont want to do our business. Anyone has such experience and please tell us what we should do? Re: met?icon builders victoria 15Jun 08, 2009 8:27 pm Hi the best l think you could do is to give them a quick call as they have had alot and l mean alot of the management staff get up and quit in the past couple of weeks so your file might have been misplaced...my other advise is not to build with metricon as we are still waiting for things to be fixed in our house for the past 9 months, and most is big stuff.....but hey good luck...there number is 03 9915 55 55.. Cheers Chris.. if you like pm me your email and l will send you our feedback to metricon... Re: met?icon builders victoria 16Jun 08, 2009 8:35 pm Adele, calling them on the phone ought to work. We are organizing our house build with M from Singapore and have had no trouble, though our particular sales consultant is one who specializes in international sales. To save money you can call to make sure you're getting noticed, and then arrange for a response to your email. Metricon Riva 33 - http://herlihy-riva.blogspot.com Site start 15/03/2010 - Handover 23/12/2010 9 months and 8 days (284 calendar days) from site start to handover Re: met?icon builders victoria 17Jun 08, 2009 9:14 pm Thanks Chris... in fact, we have called them before to chase them for things and yes, they did respond after that. But I don't think that this should be the way business should run...especially I am in overseas and can't be calling them all the time. the last email we sent them was 2 weeks ago and there is no respond till today. We are seriously thinking about writing a feedback to their management or can we change the sales person, what is the procedure? For reference, this is the Austlii reference.
