Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Mar 02, 2009 3:17 pm We are still in the process of doing all of our colour selections and the one thing that really has me stuck this time is paint colours. It was relatively easily last time because we build a brick/tile home whereas this time we have to have render/colorbond due to the estates convenants.
So i'm looking for some inspiration. We want a render colour that is in the beige tonings but not really cream/yellow more a stone colour if that makes sense. Unfortunately most of the colours we like end up being too grey which we don't want because we're doing a lot of sandstone work out the front and around the house which are in the warmer tonings. Our roof will be Colorbond Surfmist and our garage door is going to be Western Red Cedar. Any suggestions ? Re: Render Colour 2Mar 02, 2009 5:21 pm If you are having sandstone you need to go in the warmer tonings ie creamier otherwise most browns against it will look green or grey (which usually translates to dirty looking !!)
What colour are your bricks ? a colours like colorbond sandbank would look good with sandstone and surfmist and cedar - don't know how to attach swatch quickly just google images -colorbond sandbank Re: Render Colour 3Mar 02, 2009 5:43 pm We have a lot of sandstone in our yard and our house is a very pale grey...Dulux Heifer with a darker grey feature, and our paths will be a very dark grey in exposed aggregate. The garage door is surfmist and also around the windows is a colour matched to Surfmist. I like sandstone with grey.

I think i'll just have to get some sample pots and have a play around. SuH - Lovely house, we have very similar taste in colours. Michelle - Oh yes I love Dulux Limed White but unfortunately it's probably too grey. bluesteel - We're not having any bricks. Hi Alex, Thanks for the reply again. I had a chat with the builder, he said he will use primer, then hydrotec which comes with colour and sealer as well.
