Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Mar 02, 2009 11:52 am Hi there,
I'm about to go through a walk through on my completed house and would like to ask people if anyone has any tips or key things to look at during the review. House looks pretty good, but would like peoples experiences and knowledge on the things I should look at. Any ideas anyone? Re: Completion walk through - Tips Anyone 2Mar 02, 2009 9:59 pm We've just completed the pre-completion inspection on our house, and a couple of things we remembered to check for included:
- made sure water in the showers drained correctly (we had issues with this in the place we're renting at the moment, so this was a biggie for us ) - made sure all doors and windows opened/closed properly - this also included cupboard doors and drawers in bathrooms/kitchen and laundry I'm sure there's heaps more, but these were a few of the things we specifically planned to check for beforehand. We didn't use a private inspector, and just did the inspection ourselves - if you're planning to do the same, I suggest you buy a box of stickers to put on the walls/ceilings/architraves wherever there are any marks, dents or just general paint issues. It also helped us to re-read through our contract before we went for the inspection, so we could make sure that everything that should be included was there. Hope this helps! walk through 4Mar 04, 2009 7:32 am open and close all the doors, cupboards.... look closely to see if they are all aligned evenly.
Turn on all the taps stand inside the wardrobes and run your hands around the shelves, doors etc. Definitely take your electrical plan and check it off.
