Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Feb 27, 2009 3:51 pm Hi everyone!
Not sure for those building in WA have come accross this on builder reviews: http://www.productreview.com.au/categor ... at_id=1943 unfortunately my builder (Homebuyers Centre) hasn't been reviewed on this site. hopefully they turn out good! Re: Builder Reviews - Perth WA 4Mar 02, 2009 9:15 pm Good choice don't worry. The ABN Group are Perth's largest residential building company, they build about 3500 homes a year. Home buyer center is part of the ABN group and build a great home. The designs are also very good. They operate with the opinion " What you see is what you get", which not many builders do. Good Luck. Re: Builder Reviews - Perth WA 5Apr 03, 2009 11:00 am Pisces - we are building with Homebuyers centre too Have you had any issues with Homebuyers...or do you have any advice for us Which house are you building? Re: Builder Reviews - Perth WA 8Apr 03, 2009 2:48 pm Thanks HEAPS for the info Pisces. I hope you don't mind my questioning, but it is so helpful to hear from others about their experiences!!!! We too have an issue with window placement in our bedroom. When we "chose" (and it was in passing as we were told we could change it later) our render style, the window wasn't quite right. Not sure if we can change styles now?? We are building Aussie Alfresco Games (with a few alterations) Our colour ideas so far fit a black/grey/white theme, although we have chocolate/espresso furniture so don’t know whether it will look ridiculous or not! We were hoping timber laminate flooring in kitchen/family/games/dining might help We haven’t been to European Ceramics yet, so aren’t ready to finalise tiles/colours. Here’s what we have so far: I have updated the colour selections Kitchen Benchtops: Onyx Cluster (Laminex Squareform) Cupboards: Formica – Warm White Floors: Timber laminate (Avignon Oak). Bathrooms see my thread Exterior Roof: Monier Sambucca Gutters/Fascia: Monument Render: Solver Lundy Grey Windows: Black Front Door/Garage Door (future): timber look Cedar Caoba BUILT with Homebuyer's Centre - Aussie Alfresco Games viewtopic.php?f=31&t=16668 Moved In - Dec 14th Painting all but done - Jan 11 Front Landscaping - Feb 8 Moved In PICS Page 43 Re: Builder Reviews - Perth WA 9Apr 03, 2009 4:22 pm kirsada- we wanted to change a window at prestart, but weren't allowed as considered a structural change. our theme is grey/white too. we also like the beige interior paint colour (solver mouse) in the display home, and will go with our kitchen bench (laminex Sand pepple) cabinets (laminex silver ash) which are a white/beige, and then do floating floorboards. but if we do tiles (grey) instead of floorboards (decision will be based on cost) we'll paint light grey walls, but then im not sure how this will go with our kitchen selections!?! then we'll suit the carpet based on wall paint colour. bathroom cupbaords are formica seal grey, benchtop is formica blackstone i think. don't know how easy it will be mixing grey (bathrooms and possible tiles) and brown (kitchen and possible beige walls) together for us! we chose from European Ceramics, had a good range. Re: Builder Reviews - Perth WA 11Apr 03, 2009 4:55 pm Thanks Davden - good to know - might have to spend more money and get tiles as I really don't know/like the vinyls Pisces - I am glad (in a nice way) that someone else is having the same colour dilemnas as me What are these floating floorboards?? Are they real timber and did you select them at the carpet place? What about cost?? By the way...which carpet place do you prefer? We have only been to Trevor's so far. Going to European ceramics and the other carpet place tomorrow. I want to go to the HBC showroom too and see what their "pre-selected colour ideas" are like. I will have to look up your colours when I get home Don't remember seeing Solver Mouse, but will have to double check. Re: Builder Reviews - Perth WA 13Apr 03, 2009 7:00 pm we have to have carpets/vinyls/blinds etc as we are financing with Keystart. Maybe we should just get the cheapest and upgrade in a few years. I won't waste my time going to the HBC showroom then - thanks! Did you find some good grey/black/white themed display homes or what was your favourite one?? Thanks again - you help is fabulous BUILT with Homebuyer's Centre - Aussie Alfresco Games viewtopic.php?f=31&t=16668 Moved In - Dec 14th Painting all but done - Jan 11 Front Landscaping - Feb 8 Moved In PICS Page 43 Re: Builder Reviews - Perth WA 14Apr 03, 2009 7:52 pm we are having carara grey on the walls in our ensuite. I think it would look nice with a dark grey floor tile or alternatively with what we chose. Re: Builder Reviews - Perth WA 15Apr 04, 2009 12:17 am We are building with Keystart finance. We had prestart yesterday and after being told the tiles were around $5k and only having a $6 budget for tiles and carpets the tiles alone came in at just over $10k. With keystart though you need to have the house flooring and window treatments but do you have to go through the builder? Or can you go to other companies and have it installed before handover? Any one had to deal with this before? Its a bugger because we spent 6 hours doing prestart and now the tiles are too expensive this changes every colour we have picked already. Hope someone has some advise. Regards. Re: Builder Reviews - Perth WA 16Apr 04, 2009 10:56 am mickey p We are building with Keystart finance. I too would be interested in what other people think as we are with Keystart. We are not the shared equity scheme but the other one whatever it is called! All I know is that we had to have floor and wall covering included, don't know about the timing of it or who can do it. Who is your builder out of curiosity??? We would like tiles too but definitely can't afford $10K. I better do our colour scheme with that in mind - thanks for the heads up! Re: Builder Reviews - Perth WA 18Apr 05, 2009 2:35 pm Went to the carpet shop and have decided on timber laminate floors and a slightly upgraded carpet (colour in between grey and brown). Then went to European Ceramics where the colour consultant was fabulous. She loved our kitchen colour idea and the carpet and helped us with the rest of the house colours with ease. We ended up with a slightly different colour theme to what we had planned, but were very happy nevertheless. We have a week to make up our minds and then will write it up next Saturday!! We have a different set of tiles for each bathroom and have to decide what goes where NewHouse (Medium).JPG NewHouse2 (Medium).jpg IMG_2394 (Medium).JPG I hope the attachments work Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ BUILT with Homebuyer's Centre - Aussie Alfresco Games viewtopic.php?f=31&t=16668 Moved In - Dec 14th Painting all but done - Jan 11 Front Landscaping - Feb 8 Moved In PICS Page 43 Re: Builder Reviews - Perth WA 19Apr 05, 2009 4:16 pm Desmondp I spoke to a guy at homebuyers centre today and was quite impressed. I am meeting with someone from Ross North homes tommorrow. The only thing i didn't like about the homebuyers centre is their reluctance to rearrange the design of their homes to suit you. So my shortlist at the moment in my price range is Highbury homes/metro strata Homebuyers centre Goodlife homes possibly Ross north homes anyone know anything about commodore homes ? Don't know about Commodore homes, sorry. We went with HBC and did change the base plan a bit without reluctance from the salesperson. We wanted a plan with 4x2, a nice open plan area and an alfresco area at a reasonable price Was $140K plus $8K siteworks plus our variations $12K = $161K The main changes we made: Changed shape/size of main bedroom (now 4.3m x 3.8m!) and added separate his/hers WIR and a larger ensuite with separate toilet. Removed half walls in open plan area Made the plan fit our 15metre wide block - lost 900mm of home theatre (now a study) Extended carport to fit our falcon comfortably without parking on an angle and a few other ones houseplan.jpg Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ BUILT with Homebuyer's Centre - Aussie Alfresco Games viewtopic.php?f=31&t=16668 Moved In - Dec 14th Painting all but done - Jan 11 Front Landscaping - Feb 8 Moved In PICS Page 43 Re: Builder Reviews - Perth WA 20Apr 05, 2009 6:54 pm Sorry, I should have been a little more specific with my variations previously What I wanted to get across was that we were definitely allowed plan changes!! The high cost of our variations was because of extra materials e.g carport lengthened - needed more bricks etc etc, and needed a fire wall on right hand side as it is right on the fenceline. We also wanted cupboard doors to robes/linen cupboards, extra cupboards in kitchen etc etc. I don't know anything about Highbury homes/metro strata, but other users might... keep us posted and good luck BUILT with Homebuyer's Centre - Aussie Alfresco Games viewtopic.php?f=31&t=16668 Moved In - Dec 14th Painting all but done - Jan 11 Front Landscaping - Feb 8 Moved In PICS Page 43 We are looking to do a KDR with fairhaven homes, Have seen plenty of good reviews about them pre construction and plenty of negative reviews about them during contruction… 0 18027 Hi starting the process of looking around for Dual Occ builders.
