Did a quick driveby during lunch today. There was a million labourers around so I didn't want to take any pics and look stupid. Was going to re-visit after work for a closer look, however I didn't feel like getting drenched or struck by lightning so figured it could wait for another day I did find: - windows in! (they hadnt even been delivered when I last visited) - roof trusses 3/4 up - tiles delivered ready for tiling ASAP! We have been told to expect brickies on 20th Feb... Thats pretty soon! dreamhome Nice looking slab sarah. Good luck with the rest of the build, looking forward to seeing more photos Thanks dreamhome! Will have to pick my game up on the pic side of things... Building Monaco32 with Carlisle Homes in Alamanda Estate 20/08/2010 - HANDOVER 24/8!! Blog - http://ourmonaco32.blogspot.com/ Thread - viewtopic.php?f=31&t=14415 Re: S&G Carlisle Monaco 32 - BRICKIES TOMORROW!... =) 147Feb 21, 2010 10:05 pm Just a quick update... Our roof trusses were completed last Wed 17th Feb. It seemed that the eaves were overlooked in the making of the trusses. When we visited we found eaves around the Alfresco and behind the garage and house, but not down the side of the house! On top of this, when I got home from work that night, we had received a letter for the frame invoice! Spoke to SS ASAP to get the eaves fixed up. In the end they extended the chords of the roof trusses. The extensions overlapped the roof trusses by about 1.5m, which seems to be enough to reduce the cantilever force produced by the weight of the tiles themselves. During the discussion with SS we also mentioned that we were not happy with being sent an invoice with no notice of the (apparent) completion of the stage. The invoice is now being reissued as the building surveyor had not yet approved the frame. Expecting the new invoice next Wednesday now! Next visit to the house was on Friday 19th Feb. The roof tiles were all completed House has a hat!! I wasn't expecting them to be done that quickly. When I arrived at the block, two guys were there preparing the house to be wrapped on Saturday. Following the news that the house would be wrapped on Saturday, we visited the house again today!! As we were expecting, it had been wrapped... Picked up a couple of issues with the laundry door frame being a bit dented, the feature wall behind the bed not according to plan and a broken noggin in the garage, but apart from that all seems good (as far as I can tell anyway ) See blog for the picfest! I'm going to show some ignorance here but how can I tell if it has been done correctly? Re: S&G Carlisle Monaco 32 - BRICKIES TOMORROW! 149Feb 22, 2010 6:55 pm Zerosignal You mentioned on your blog about blocking? I'm going to show some ignorance here but how can I tell if it has been done correctly? Zero, Blocking is used to ensure that the trusses are supported laterally at points of bearing to prevent movement of the trusses. In the pic below you can see the roof trusses (green lines) have a noggin (blue line) between them to space them. The noggin is running along perpendicular to a wall frame. Attached to the top of the wall frame are the small blocking bits of timber (running parallel to the frame). The blocking is used to prevent the trusses moving in the direction of the green arrows.... Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Hopefully you understand what I mean Blocking isn't done on every truss.... don't know how much it is supposed to be done. Dad said one in every 6 (whatever that means?!?!) Building Monaco32 with Carlisle Homes in Alamanda Estate 20/08/2010 - HANDOVER 24/8!! So there are many more pics... Unfortunately not on here though... I will try to remember to upload some tomorrow night... Remind me if I forget! Majority of the inside of the house is done, outside too... We have problems with the quality of the bricking and the mortar though... So might be a way to go yet! Been very busy with work and getting a little unmotivated with the house.. It's taking SOOO long! I don't have this much patience.. Outstanding Items: - Baths - Mirrors - Shower Screens - Splashback - Fix the bricks! - External painting (eaves, front door, render, beams etc) Had a meeting with SS and the Construction Manager at Carlisle last Friday. They both agreed that our bricking was substandard (the mortar in particular). They are going to pull down and rebrick 3 sections. To address the mortar, a mortar test is going to be carried out. If it does not meet standards they are going to spray some sort of material over the bricks to strengthen the mortar (don't know the technical details!). To address the visual aspects of the mortar crumbling etc, it is going to be ground out and repointed. Hopefully this fix works So now for the pics! (Sorry about the quality - iphone!) Your laundry has so much storage, especially with your overhead cupboards. You've got me thinking about increasing our space in our laundry Oh, and great purchases. That couch does look very comfy Re: S&G Carlisle Monaco 32 - Almost there! PICS 29/5 160May 30, 2010 8:13 pm Feature tiles in the bathroom are pretty. I just would have liked darker floor tiles... Maybe next house! Oh and I am not sure if the carpet they have installed is lighter than the carpet we chose. I am convinced we chose a darker one! Will visit the carpet place next weekend to try and check it out It was a bit of an upgrade to make the laundry like that ("as per display"), but definitely glad we did it...
