Id say thats pretty good our place is 25sq and we got off-white mortar. We were charged $1900. We wanted a render but couldnt afford it. We got light bricks and added the off-white mortar. The effect at the display looked great and just like render. Im happy we chose it even if it was a bit pricey to change mortar. I think you builder gave you a really good price Living in Caloundra Thread****** Lovin my house all finished!!! Re: $900 for off-white mortar for 22square house 5Feb 25, 2009 8:03 pm WOW really I got totally ripped off then
Do you think the price could have been higher because we got the flush mortar ????( in line the the edge of the bricks). That would mean they had to use more?? Off white flushed mortar cost us under $800. Re: $900 for off-white mortar for 22square house 8Feb 25, 2009 8:13 pm jolie We are being quoted approx $900 for off-white mortar for a single storey house (only 22sq). Seems steep to us.. or is that the going rate? Thanks for your feedback. is that $900 extra. Just to put things in pepective i am building a 36sq house. around 13000 bricks. I am using around 80-100 bags of off white morter at 8 dollars a bag and about 15m3 of sand at $45 a meter. so it is costing me around $1500 all up. If i went for natural mortor it would have cost about 200-300 less. Re: $900 for off-white mortar for 22square house 16Feb 25, 2009 8:43 pm jolie That's a nice colour esp if a bit lighter.. well chosen. Actually, we are thinking of a similar colour "Sandstone gold" from Boral bricks.. It does look much lighter in person. Its strange how the colours can be so different when looking online. Still, if anyone else is getting flush mortar can they let me know please how much they paid ??? Is there a big price diff between raked and flush?? they combined our price.
