What we ended up being told on the day of our colour selection appointment was that we were only supposed to have chosen from the Finishing Touches booklet, which is what's in the PD pack you receive when you first give them $1K and pick the block & house (that two page thing). To use a colour from Wattyl's ID (Interior Design) range rather than something in the Finishing Touches booklet, it does count as an upgrade. Over large areas, this does add up. Our CC was surprised we wanted to upgrade, I suppose because we are building a Smart Living house she thought we'd want to economise as much as possible, but I thought the FT colours were boring where ID were vibrant and there was simply a larger section to boot. As you can see from other posters they have had the same thing happen--they had to pay the extra amount to use something from ID. If you don't want to pay the amount which is the difference between what FT costs for PD to what ID costs, you just use the FT colours, and you won't get charged any extra.
