Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Feb 22, 2009 9:51 am Hi all, i'm new to this site so bear with me with the silly questions I've posted a few different questions in other posts to make it easier to get answers since i have a LOT of questions
I know this question is pretty vague but i'm just looking for a rough figure to go by. I've been looking into a few different kit homes priced at around $60,000 for around 150m2(complete with internal fit out) which seems in our budget but then i'm trying to figure out how much a builder will charge to actually build the kit home???? I've read that to get a rough idea you double the price of the kit home but does that mean the price of the kithome to lock up stage (which is around $40,000) or complete which is around $60,000? Would that be the total price of the kit home and builder charges or does the builder charge double the price of the kit home PLUS the kit home price on top? For example if i double the kit home price 2x $60k= $120k - does that mean the total price of the kit home AND the building is $120k or does that mean the builder charges $120k plus i pay $60k for the kithome so $180k all up?? I've read builders can charge anywhere from $200/m2 to $1200/m2!! thats a big variable! I need to get a rough idea of how much it would cost as we're on a limited budget and i don't want to buy land and then find out the cost of building is way out of our budget. Can anyone offer advice or their own experience of builder costs? Thanks sorry if my question is confusing, i'm confused myself Re: Approx costs of building a kit home to lock up and compl 2Feb 22, 2009 8:25 pm Lesty For example if i double the kit home price 2x $60k= $120k - does that mean the total price of the kit home AND the building is $120k Yes that is correct. It can easily vary in labour costs, difficult sites etc. It could be less than 60k labour or more. Every build is different, you can get a approx completion time, mutiplied by an hourly rate for a rough costing. 1 4695 Looking to tile the facade pillars rather than rendering.
