Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Feb 22, 2009 7:55 am As part of our build we are required through council to have a 10000L underground water tank with a hydraulic system to discharge the water to a stormwater easement on a drainage reserve next to our property.
Now, we have the cost of the tank, the cost of the stormwater plan from the builder BUT what we don't have is what council/builder will charge us to link to the easement (or whatever the technical term is for this process). This we will find out once the DA gets approved. So my question is... has anyone done this before and has any idea how much council/builder might charge us for this? It's literally totally unknown for us and might blow our budget completely! Thanks! Re: Stormwater & council 2Feb 22, 2009 6:15 pm I think it depends on how long the connection has to be. Our stormwater drainage cost extra $5k. Yours sound more complicated. Are you getting the builder's drainage guy to do it? Make sure you request all the receipts before handover. Re: Stormwater & council 3Feb 22, 2009 7:04 pm I'm guessing the connection will be at least about 15 metres. It sounds really expensive when I think about it that way. Arrgghhh!!! Re: Stormwater & council 4Feb 23, 2009 10:13 am Search Rikster's thread or PM her - they paid the price of a small car for theirs & went through all the council crap! After 4 years - we're in! Re: Stormwater & council 5Feb 23, 2009 11:52 am Oh god I just read her thread. $40000! That's phenomenal. I don't think I want to know anymore Re: Stormwater & council 6Feb 23, 2009 4:14 pm BADH, i hope it doesn't go anywhere near that for you!!! You poor thing.
L Re: Stormwater & council 7Feb 23, 2009 6:33 pm An above ground tank will make things much cheaper. I reckon for under $5000 you can have the tank and connection. Demolition August 2009, Construction Started September 2009, Completed December 2010 Re: Stormwater & council 8Feb 23, 2009 8:31 pm Thanks Loretta! I hope it doesn't either. How are your plans going?
Casa2 I don't think we would have anywhere to put a 10600L tank other than underground. Have you seen the size of those things? They are massive. Plumbers 'can be' plumbers, made all the worse by self certification which the building surveyor invariably accepts as proof of compliance! The good thing is that you know know. 3 4768 Grab a hose, insert it at the top of the inlet/down pipe and turn the water on and see where the water is escaping from. Then you'll know. 3 8390 in the stormwater pit or the drain? Those dont look like theyd fit in the drain. Separately, the pits do get stuff in them during the course of the build.
