Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Feb 20, 2009 6:31 pm We're building with PD soon and have chosen the powder room option. They are asking if we want a pedestal basin or a wall mounted basin, it goes inside a tiled niche.
I'm not sure which will look best, but when I think of the wall mounted kind it reminds me or a urinal Caroma's website is currently down so I can't have a proper look. Anyone else gone for the powder room option and what basin did you have? ~ Hels ~ Blog: http://bluemistkids.blogspot.com "Never be afraid to try something new. Remember, amateurs built the ark, and professionals built the Titanic." Re: Powder room basin options? 2Feb 20, 2009 6:34 pm I think practically. The wall mounted will be easier to clean. No getting down to clean where it meets the floor like with the pedestal. That bit always gets gunky.
But I'm quite lazy!!! I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. Terrence Malick powder room basin 3Feb 20, 2009 7:37 pm hels_n_greg
We had this same issue, but our powder room is very small so the builder suggested a wall hung basin, or pedestal. I actually agree with you on them looking a bit like a urinal . As usual I am thinking *storage storage storage* so I wanted cupboards underneath like a normal vanity. I actually managed to find a very narrow one, only 32cms deep. So that's what I will go for, but may not be suitable for your tiled niche? (I found them on the Renovation Boys website) and also some on ebay. Hope this helps. www.themaxbuild.blogspot.com forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=20717&start=300 www.leahspaperpassion.blogspot.com Re: urinal? 6Feb 20, 2009 7:55 pm themax How would WE know, we never frequent boys toilets do we? What was this thread about lol Re: Powder room basin options? 15Feb 20, 2009 8:42 pm We widened our laundry/toilet/bathroom areas, as such it allowed is to add a small hand basin in the toilet. I wasn't fussed with what it looked like, as long as l got a basin which would meet buidling requirments.
Just got my contract today ( that's another post altogether) and found out what basin we are getting...it's the Caroma Valette: http://www.realestate.com.au/renovate/b ... -basin.htm Small, simple and even has a towel rail. I'm happy with it Re: Powder room basin options? 17Feb 21, 2009 11:41 am Thanks for your replies.
The basin that we get to chose from is the Caramo Milan in either pedestal or wall mounted, and we don't want to upgrade to anything else as we have already blown the budget Caroma's website is still down, but I have located them on the Reece website; Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ I am still leaning towards the pedestal one I think, just for something different. Re: 18Apr 19, 2009 11:00 pm This one looks very sharp and dangerous. For the kids, and clumsy me *shy* Re: Powder room basin options? 20Apr 20, 2009 8:32 am torourke1 Thanks, that's a nice basin too. We ended up choosing the pedestal after I saw it in another display and liked it. I also changed the wall tiles that surround it to match the ones we are having in our showers. I'll post a photo here when it's installed Blog: http://bluemistkids.blogspot.com "Never be afraid to try something new. Remember, amateurs built the ark, and professionals built the Titanic." Looking at some of the designs on websites, they are all selling very similar products. I get that you want something stylish. It's worth looking for search terms like SaveH2O… 2 7006 Hello!
