You are a clever individual artstitches What's next on the to-do list ? it should probably be to finish some of what I've started 5 more roman blinds to finish, curtains for 3 windows to "alter", finish the bookshelf ...oh and I should probably finish unpacking and get the house sorted instead of starting new projects?.... but I would really love to add another of those bookshelves instead. I have a loooooot of books - when moving OH asked why I couldn't have a DVD collection instead because it would have been much lighter to move My blog: http://artstitcheshome.blogspot.com Re: Artstitches home - new photos 15/9... 163Sep 20, 2009 5:52 pm Great bookshelves!! I had the timber cut to size when I bought it. Only problem Was that their cutting was not very accurate nor very square. I ended up buying myself a sander from cash converters to make it look a bit better Next time (if there ever is a next time...) I might have to figure out how I can cut it myself - maybe go back to CC for a circular saw Hels Looking great can't wait to see the pavers, are you laying them yourselves or getting someone in to do them? We're planning on doing the pavers ourselves just because we'll be laying them singularly - like stepping stones. We might change our minds when we start though... I'm kinda hoping that Dad might be around to help by the time we get around to them My blog: http://artstitcheshome.blogspot.com Re: Artstitches home - new photos 15/9... 167Sep 21, 2009 3:09 pm This weekend we went from this... They have an ever-growing pile of rubbish and rubble and so we've been helping them shift it Still need more It doesn't look like much but it meant moving all of those bricks (320 of them if you're interested) out to the back, along with the leftover roof tiles and 30 granite (or basalt - depending on where you grew up) tiles. The tiles are BIG at 80cm x 40cm and 3cm thick - not light I can promise you! Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Of course with no brick pile, I now had no stand for the letterbox and so am making do with this for the time being... Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ I also got halfway through staining the bookshelf before I had to pack up because it was threatening to rain - after spending the morning filling all the gaps with wood filler and then sanding it all back. I don't have any photos - they will have to wait until it's finished (soon I hope!) So my(our) ever-growing to-do-list includes: * finish the bl**dy blinds - you'll all be glad when they're done * finish the bookcase - finish the staining and then varnish * dig out the front yard so that we can get some good soil in and start planting * continue to collect rocks for the front landscaping (that's enough for now ) I'm really hoping to be able to get some planting done next weekend - they've been in pots for long enough! And besides I'm tired of moving them all around - the dog has decided to 'taste' the trunks and leaves of some of the larger (more expensive) plants. The letterbox is 'evolving'... but I'm going to do something about it soon... I watched the postie yesterday and he had to lean quite a way to get the mail in - he's obviously quite patient with me because he persists and doesn't just drop the mail on the ground. cazoraz love the little forest in your laundry, they look so cute hiding in there from the rain! on all the bricks and pavers - are you going to use them in your garden? any ideas? the laundry forest is only a temporary measure I assure you. I'd much prefer to have them outside drinking up the lovely rain we're getting this week but madam Tyler (our dog) has decided that she wants to taste all of the plants apparently she thinks she's a cow (sometimes she's right! ) or other herbivore... The pavers were bought to make a path from the front door and down the right side (narrow side) of the house. As for the bricks... The jury is still out on that DH wants a letterbox - I'm more than happy with our black one - but ideas of BBQ's, planter boxes and garde. Seating have also been circulating... Suggestions are definitely welcome! I love that sound but couldn't help thinking - I hope that all that water's going where it should and there's no leaks... Now I was expecting to see mud in the morning but I didn't expect this... We have installed a ag-pipe drain which removes much of the water, and chosen (hopefully) plants that can cope with wet conditions but also can cope with drier conditions (which I suspect will happen with the display is no longer a display). blue fescue grass in the driest area (directly above the drain), purple fountain grass (doesn't like it too wet so they are in the drier areas also), and dietes. The tallest green strapping things are self-set and so we've left them because they work with the other plants and obviously cope with the wet clay as they just keep thriving! It still needs a layer of rocks/pebbles to finish it off Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ And our patio is now finished... exposed aggregate slab and steel structure roof with skylights... and I LOVE it!!
