but i know University Hill at Bundoora also got fibre optical as well. i am living at innisfail at the moment, all adsl port got taken, have to use wireless. Re: Alamanda Vs Featherbrook 11Feb 22, 2009 9:04 pm Mic Tan I don't see why we should pay for the corporate fee. Only the apartment owners need to pay for it. That's one of the reasons we wish to have our own house without paying any fee. If we want to have club facilities, we could go for club membership etc. Besides I don't think the club in Alamanda could cope with the huge populations there. really? the Buyback clause in Alamanda is ture?? Re: Alamanda Vs Featherbrook 12Feb 24, 2009 1:11 pm Damon Alamanda got optical fibre to the estate so able to connect to ADSL2+ ADSL2+ is available through most phone lines, don't need optic fibre for that. To the original topic, another vote here to check out Innisfail. Minloo at the sales centre is excellant and our land titled only about 2 weeks late. Stage 19 that is going on sale this weekend is already a long way through construction so shouldn't be any delays in titles. Reasonable prices and no body corp. ADSL (or ADSL2) will not work over optic fibre, you need a copper line into your house for ADSL 'A bottle of wine contains more philosophy than all the books in the world.' by living far away from city and not living in a well estblished suburb, it is not too bad when the gym, pool and tennis court is just at walking distance. by the way, if a phone line can do ADSL2+ then what will be the superiority about having optical fibre? i remember someone from Universoty Hills said there will not no / less drop in signal strength over distance compared with copper line. or may be fibre got greater bandwidth so as to cope with higer number of users ....... Re: Alamanda Vs Featherbrook 15Feb 27, 2009 12:37 pm it is true that alamanda has a buy back clause. However there are ways around this. Blocks are being sold on realestate.com. This effectively works out to be a transfer. So the blocks can be transferred into someone else name as long as the original person includes "and/or nominee" on the contract. I recently brought a block of land in Alamanda like this for the same price as the original owners paid. Our solicitor did everything for us and determined it would be fine and we would have no problems.
Optical fibre runs faster Internet than ADSL2. I think I was told it's about 20x faster?? The other thing I would think about is when you will get your land. At the moment Alamanda is pretty much on time for title dates (maybe 1 month behind) but Featherbrook are at least 8-9 months behind. I personally like the idea of the residents only gym/swimming pool. I don't mind paying 900 a year for all house occupants to have access. I guess this is personal choice. I would be paying for a gym membership otherwise! Building Monaco32 with Carlisle Homes in Alamanda Estate 20/08/2010 - HANDOVER 24/8!! The only advantage i can see with optical fibre is that its Foxtel ready. It might be faster then ADSL2 or 2+ in theory but you need a supplier that can actually supply the full potiential speed. And there aren't many ISP still provide internet service via cable. Sh*tmonds new slogan of "We in it together" is so perfect fit, because you be "In the sh*t together" once you signed with them. In theory they should all be able to do it because it is about data to the pit containing the optic, and then getting this data down to the pits outside your house. It shouldn't matter who the provider is as the method of exchange should be the same, just with different infrastructure. i.e. they would send the data signal the same way to the exchange and the exchange will do the rest. Re: Alamanda Vs Featherbrook 20Mar 24, 2010 11:30 pm Hi Just found this thread from googling. Do we have to be a Alamanda member? How much is the corporate levy a year? Can we opt Not to be a member? I don't need sort of facilities. Is every house has fibre optic connection ready? If not, how much to set it up? And How much the cheapest plan is? Could someone confirm or give me more acurate information? Thanks |
