Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Feb 18, 2009 8:01 am We signed off on our plans 5 weeks ago for our builder to prepare the DA and they are still not ready. How long does this normally take? We only had two plan changes (move a door and gas point) and everything else stayed as is. I know they have to do shadow diagrams, paperwork etc but it just seems to be taking forever. Is this normal. How long did your DA take to prepare?? I want to get in and out of council before our tender lapses. Re: How long to prepare DA 2Feb 18, 2009 8:56 am Silly question, and i've been trying to work it out and can't - what's DA stand for? After 4 years - we're in! Re: How long to prepare DA 7Feb 18, 2009 11:14 am Yes DA is Development Application for Council.
I'm building with Masterton - volume builder in Sydney. Stonecutter 2 weeks is amazing!!! Is that normal? Stonecutter 2 weeks is amazing!!! Is that normal? 2 weeks is what I have been told by Wisdom as well. I think it is a goal they set themselves, every step tends to be a 2 week turnaround at the most. Tender - less than 2 weeks, Drawings - 2 weeks, pack for the developer - 2 weeks, DA pack - 2 weeks. Wow!! This is how mine is playing out: Tender - 4 weeks Plans - 4 weeks DA - 5 weeks and counting. How long does your tender last for? Do you sign the contract before or after DA approval? How long does your tender last for? Do you sign the contract before or after DA approval? Can't quite remember how long the tender lasts for, we were never going to go near letting it lapse so didn't really ask. We sign the contract before it goes to the developers. So mine went tender->plans->contract->signing/deposit and then the next steps are developer->DA They are a small builder who are about quality and not quantity so they always prepare things in a timely manner. I forgot to add that any changes to the tender before it is signed take about 1 working day to be amended and sent back Stevep79 & Principessa Finished building Wisdom Homes Impression 33mkII in The Ponds, Sydney http://lilypadintheponds.blogspot.com Re: How long to prepare DA 12Feb 18, 2009 11:36 am stevep79 Can't quite remember how long the tender lasts for, we were never going to go near letting it lapse so didn't really ask. Re: How long to prepare DA 14Feb 19, 2009 8:49 am EmoH Are you dealing direct with masterton or via a third party? That's quite along time. A third party but I don't see how that could make it take that much longer as masterton still do most of it accept deal with the council. Re: How long to prepare DA 15Feb 19, 2009 10:03 am I just had a look at our time line and with Clarendon it took 6 weeks and with Wisdom it took 6 days.
That is a huge difference. We now have a blog. http://allaboutthebuild.blogspot.com/ Congratulations! Nice to put that to bed before christmas, now you can relax 3 7179 What?
