Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Feb 17, 2009 3:39 pm We are considering building the Henley Regatta 288 with the Edison facade as displayed at Caroline Spring. However the brick they are using on the display house is well not lively to our taste, another thing is the funsui of black / grey roof tile.
Going back and forward and round and round we are thinking of going for the Bristile Aberdeen roof tile but is having problem selecting a matching brick Looking through the Bristile brochure the image use to promo the Bristile Aberdeen roof tile has a very nice matching brick & blend (it's live and to our taste). However we can't seem to work out what brick / blend it is (hopefully not in the extra $$$ upgrade category). Can anyone recognize or tell me which brick (probably from the Bristile range) this is Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Also love to hear from anyone who used the Bristile Aberdeen roof tile which brick you choose. Thanks Re: Bristile Aberdeen roof tile matching bricks 2Feb 17, 2009 5:54 pm Welcome to my nightmare.
I have to have an orange, red or maroon roof as my estate covenant. Unfortunately most of the bricks available seem to strongly suit dark/charcoal roofs. I'm not sure what brick that is, but Boral have NO bricks that work with these roof colours. Austral have a few. That brick doesn't look familiar to me, and at the moment I feel "intimate" with every brick in Melbourne. Good luck, it's not an easy roof colour to work with. I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. Terrence Malick Re: Bristile Aberdeen roof tile matching bricks 3Feb 17, 2009 6:06 pm Below is the reply I received from Austral
Quote: Thankyou for your email ,the brick was Cameo cream it is no longer in production but if you go to our Austral brick site which is www.Australbricks.com.au you can view other suitable bricks, one is the Lonsdale from the settlers series or the most popular brick is the Lawson brick ,this brick will also go well with the Aberdeen tile Whats the theory in brick being discontinued (other then not selling)? Re: Bristile Aberdeen roof tile matching bricks 4Feb 17, 2009 6:44 pm The Lonsdale is a really, really lovely brick. That is the brick I chose when I was going to build with M3tricon. It will work beautifully with that roof. Newport will as well.
If you can use Austral you'll be fine. But if you're limited to Boral you'll struggle. I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. Any one here built with that brick can you please post a photo for us. Ideally I want to go see in it the flesh on a built house as the photos seems to vary greatly. Re: Bristile Aberdeen roof tile matching bricks 6Feb 17, 2009 11:39 pm if you want to see it in person call austral and they can give you an address near you that has built with that brick! 2nd build here we come in Whittlesea! https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=92617 1st Build - Henley - Cooper in Doreen! You might find it difficult to get an address for a house finished in Lonsdale. It's only about six months old or so, there may not be any built with owners who were willing to have their house viewed. Give it a try though. Here is a pic of a wall of Lonsdale from the Austral display centre. This is with white flush mortar. http://i519.photobucket.com/albums/u353/joles_photo/2008-10-23_12-45-04_23102008300.jpg I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. Is this from the Austral display in Deer Park? from that photo it look more plain than we had hope. My partner and I are debating between the Newport (her choice) and something else that won't need a black / grey roof Re: Bristile Aberdeen roof tile matching bricks 9Feb 18, 2009 10:44 am Yep, that's from Deer Park. Newport will definitely work as well. There's a few houses around with that brick.
It's hard at the moment with the trend for charcoal roofs. All the brick seem to be geared towards that look. A few years ago everyone did red roofs, it will swing back, but for the moment, people like us are really limited and really quite stuck. I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. There's a few houses around with that brick. We wanted the Newport brick & Bristile Aberdeen roof tile, but the interior designer at Cosham says the red roofs don't go well with the Newport brick as there are no 'red' in the brick. We're thinking it wise to not go against their (colour matching) advice. However if someone has done this (Newport brick & red / orange or non black or dull looking roof) we would love to drive out and have a look at your house (from the outside). Re: Bristile Aberdeen roof tile matching bricks 11Feb 25, 2009 8:03 pm Next time I'm out at my estate I'll have alook for you. Brighton would go with red or orange roof.
Hmmm... the Austral lady suggested them to me with a red or orange roof. Oh and if you still want to see the Lonsdale on a house, the PD Sandhurst 36 display in Lyndhurst (Marriott Waters) has used this brick. It's on the website.
