Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Feb 15, 2009 11:55 pm Can anybody advise what I might expect a steel frame would add to the cost of a build on a 42 square highset?
Any opinions on whether it is worth it? I guess anybody with termite problems will sing the praises of steel The place we just sold had a steel frame (1970's "old school" thick steel) and we never had any issues with creaking etc, but I hear the new fangled cheapo steel might have warping/creaking issues? cheers Re: steel frame additional cost and opinions? 2Feb 16, 2009 6:58 am We have had 2 steel frame homes.. we've had no problems at all.. and of course the termites are sitting hungry in the garden!
Seriously though we have exerienced no creaking or cracking at all....the place is near on perfect. The steel frame option was part of the builders offer so it didn't appear to cost us any more money...but even if there had have been a price difference we wouldn't have considered timber... its just gives you peace of mind.... and we were eaten out in one of our previous homes... thats a massive shock Supaloc engineered and manufactured the frame using Bluescope steel ... the home was built by McDonald Jones Homes... would recommend it any day Life is an enjoyment, enjoy it Hi I am wanting some opinions about the build of a steel shed I am going to get one about 4.5 x 2.5 m steel shed and the height will be about 2.3-2.4m high The one I am… 0 14442 This is 100% true. You can not hang anything on steel frames. very frustrating 8 8004 Our standard double-glazed window is tested to achieve, Rw 34, and can be glazed to suit Rw 39. The price is good too... 3 9471 |
