Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Fowler Homes 21Jul 11, 2010 10:20 pm Hi teanah, Nice to hear you are considering Fowler. We have just finished bricking on our site, if interested, you can read our progress in our blog. At your stage, I recommend negotiate for either some cash discount or get some upgrade for free. I think the cash discount is better. The experience I've had so far had been pretty good, they have been flexible when I needed to add or remove things even after contract signing. One thing you may find different to other builders, is they sign contract before council approval, while most other builders write up the contact after council approval. With this, you may find that costs may be added as your council may have specific requirements that the builder can only find out once they submit. If you have anything specific to ask me, you are welcome to pm me, I'll endeavour to answer asap. Good Luck Jim Re: Fowler Homes 22Feb 01, 2011 3:28 pm I know this is an old post, we have just paid $750 for Fowler to tender for us, I've read in these forums that Fowler go to contract before council approval and were their tenders Fixed cost without hidden extras or provisonals? Our Build Thread https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=50638 Re: Fowler Homes 23Feb 07, 2011 6:35 pm Hi B&V, I basically paid what was in the original contract, the only blow out I had was when they found rocks when they excavated for site levelling, when they did the plumbing, when they dug the underground utility piping, when the dug for the driveway... My list goes on mainly because my site is very rocky. Apart from them, they did not move away from the initial tender and contract price so I am not complaining. Hope this helps Good luck jim Re: Fowler Homes 24Feb 08, 2011 1:38 pm That is definately helpful when making the decision to proceed from tender to contract. From checking on the land they have just done the contours and soil test. (waiting for tender now) So far the experience with Fowler has been good, since our block is slight slopey we're building the Pareece 23 split. Your experiences with them would be greatly appreciated. Things like build time, delays, overall build quality. Kind regards B&V Our Build Thread https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=50638 Re: Fowler Homes 25Feb 20, 2011 1:32 pm Sorry B&V, I did not realize you've had further questions. Build time? well my whole build took exactly 8 months from excavation, note though we had 6 weeks of serious rain so overall I don't think it's too long for a double storey Quality I am happy with, the brickies they hired did a great job as did the tilers, if I need to be picky, the plasterer and painter could have done a better job in some areas, but nothing I would get too stressed about I hope this is what you are looking for, send me a pm if you need anything specific Good luck with the tender cheers jim Re: Fowler Homes 26Jul 03, 2011 7:25 pm I've been having a close look at their collection of double story designs. They are quite well thought out. I particularly like the workshop area and the large storage room in the Sienna 29 design. Some of their other designs also incorporate quite good storage areas in the ground level. They appear to be a new builder. I can't find any posts on them anywhere on the internet. I'm considering building with them but a bit hesitant since they are only small. So far my dealings with them have been great and like there designs and inclusions. Any one heard of them or is it just me hehe ? Hi mate, we found one of their plans really well to our needs. same here not sure how good they are as they talk over and beyond before signing tender. hows it going with u? I would never build with Fowler homes. I built with them in 2021 and till date maintenance issues are pending.
