Is it compulsory to have your exhaust fan in the toilet / WC ducted externally ?
We are building a double storey and realised that the toilet on the ground floor will not be ducted externally.
Is that legal ?

Our builder fixed this issue by fitting in a duct to properly clear all contaminated air from the powder room (ground floor) onto the outside air. The issue was discovered by our inspector (good thing!). It wasn't obvious (that it wasn't ducted) just by looking at the exhaust. I believe it is against BCA, as mentioned in our pre-handover inspection report. As per BCA's ventilation requirements, 'contaminated air from a sanitary compartment must exhaust directly to the outside of the building by way of ducts; or exhaust into the roof space provided it is adequately ventilated by open eaves, and/or ...' ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Built the Nevada 42 Next project - landscaping!
