Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Feb 12, 2009 12:22 pm Hi there
Does anyone have any pics of houses that are partially rendered? And by that I mean the bottom half is rendered and the top is brick. We are now thinking going OB and that means we might use bessa (sp?) blocks on the bottom and normal face bricks on top...obviously the bessa blocks would need to be rendered. thanks!! Re: Partial Render 2Feb 12, 2009 12:55 pm From memory, only seen Miss Piggy house has part render, but i think she has top part as render and bottom part is brick Blog - http://clageonewhouse.blogspot.com/ Building Thread - viewtopic.php?f=31&t=10886&hilit=milan I am in, with my husband and my beautiful bunny Re: Partial Render 3Feb 12, 2009 1:32 pm Ours will be part rendered. our project manager said that they will some time send a heap of non face bricks and some times they send out face bricks.. The churchill and Illoura ones. Idiots are fun, that's why there is one in every village! - Dr. House - Re: Partial Render 6Feb 12, 2009 3:58 pm Hi loretta
I am currently looking at buying a house that is rendered. But some of the render is starting to crack off. I was told that this is because it was rendered all the way to the ground and thus damp was getting in and behind. My friend also told me that you should have a clearance of 10cm from the ground when rendering. Hope this helps. And also, don't cover any air-bricks as ventilation under the house is crucial to prevent termites and/or rot. Re: Partial Render 7Feb 12, 2009 4:04 pm thanks all - I will check out the PD wesbite for ideas.
Hmm...leaving a 10cm difference between the ground and the beginning of the render. that would look rather odd i think but if the alternative is rendering which needs to be fixed a short time later i guess that's an option. Re: Partial Render 8Feb 12, 2009 6:04 pm Hi loretta - currently building and we have "render" (armatex) and we have "bagging" ( using Morroka) and we have Weathertex paneling. Colour is all white for render and bagging. Panelling is blue.
The armatex is an acrylic based render and the theory is it is less likely to crack as it expands and contracts more readily. Moisture under render would typically induce more expansion/contraction. It can also happen on parts facing north with direct hot sun. We chose white because it looks okay but according to experts it is better for reflecting heat too. Morokka is a thin layer and no feedback on that. Hope hat helps. gongbuilding Re: Partial Render 10Feb 12, 2009 7:58 pm Hi loretta,
We are going render, and the colour will be Taubman's Chambray, our brick is PGH Poa from the spinifex. Iall the colours on my blog if you would like to see them. Here is a picture of how it will look like, we are doing the same http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/nn99/MissyTJ76/house/housePics055-1.jpg John, Tarin and the Kids Built and moving in to the Regent Grande with Masterton homes http://thebrownsaremovingtothecountry.blogspot.com Re: Partial Render 14Feb 12, 2009 8:09 pm I did a house like that over 10 years ago…..not sure where the photo is.
In fact the way my house looks at the moment I’m not sure where anything is! I like the look, it's different to what’s been done now. Internal and External Building and Colour Consultant Online - Worldwide http://www.denovoconcepts.com Re: Partial Render 15Feb 12, 2009 8:10 pm Yes it's ours.
We had our PCI today. We move into it next weekend. P.D.
