Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Feb 03, 2009 2:55 am We have received notification from Eden Brae that our practical completion inspection is scheduled for this Thursday, 5th February.
We would be more excited if we didn't have a long list of defects to resolve. http://jamesandbee.blogspot.com Re: Building The Esperence with Eden Brae 2Feb 16, 2009 5:22 pm We met with our new site supervisor last Thursday, 5th Feb and although the house was not anywhere near practical completion we had to use this opportunity to discuss our list of 'issues' with the new supervisor. Thankfully, he did not brush off our concerns but rather was very understanding and we walked away with a little faith again.
As there is alot of 'minor' issues, we are still hoping EB can meet a timely deadline as we have now reached 33 weeks. Re: Building The Esperence with Eden Brae 4Feb 18, 2009 3:25 am Thanks Bel, will keep you posted on the progress. I hope your experience is a little more pleasant then ours. We have been through a few site supervisors which I believe has caused most of our hiccups and of course, precious time.
Good luck with the internal paint selection, I know how tough it is but your selections look great so far. http://www.jamesandbee.blogspot.com/ Re: Building The Esperence with Eden Brae 5Feb 25, 2009 3:28 am Some good news
There has been a bit of action onsite over the past few days and from what we can see a few items from our defect list have been rectified. We will have to wait and see how much has been done but so far the tiler and electrician have been back and completed some of the outstanding problems. Will keep you posted on the progress. http://www.jamesandbee.blogspot.com/ Re: Building The Esperence with Eden Brae 6Feb 25, 2009 6:55 am Bernadette Some good news <snip> Will keep you posted on the progress. Our SS name starts with 'S' and he seems to be getting things done - fingers and everything crossed he keeps it up.
lisanne, thanks for the encouragement - I have added photo's to my blog but nothing recent so will post more shortly (when we can get in the house again). Please ignore the wall colour as the entire house was painted in this mix and so the walls had a green shade but the has since been repainted - at the cost of Taubmans. http://jamesandbee.blogspot.com/ Re: Building The Esperence with Eden Brae 9Feb 27, 2009 9:06 am this must be a really frustrating stage as you feel you're almost there. keeps us posted on how it goes Re: Building The Esperence with Eden Brae 10Mar 26, 2009 11:29 pm The correct 1200mm Corinthian front door and frames with clear glazing were installed today. Along with the correct 750mm horizon pull handles which looks fantastic! The driveway was poured last Thursday, house cleaned by Friday afternoon and the front footpath was completed today. It looks like the painters have also returned to start on touchups. We spoke to our SS and were advised our practical completion will not be this week as they have to get the house 100% for the Tyrells inspection and then we will do our inspection. Great work EB, we are finally getting there and we are really happy with the amount of work displayed over the past week Photo's will be updated shortly. http://jamesandbee.blogspot.com/ Re: Building The Esperence with Eden Brae 11Apr 01, 2009 12:44 am Week 39 - Grrrrrrrrrrrrr...... the neighbours behind us (built with EB) started almost 4 weeks behind us got their keys on Monday just past. We are happy for them but disappointed that we have not even got a final inspection date booked................ Re: Building The Esperence with Eden Brae 12Apr 01, 2009 6:06 am We found that you need to push EB at every stage. Have you escalated this to the Construction Manager ? and told him about your neighbour's time frame ??? Built the Eden Brae Cambridge 34 Family with Boston Corner Facade Re: Building The Esperence with Eden Brae 14Apr 01, 2009 9:43 pm hi, i am building with EB too. Does anyone know how much extra will cost upgrade from Monier roof tile to Wunderlich? Re: Building The Esperence with Eden Brae 15Apr 02, 2009 2:05 am Your right southies, this is beyond a joke. We may just have to contact the Construction Manager although think we will speak our mind first. Almost 40 weeks and EB didn't even have to do floor coverings for us - it took over 5 months for them to correct the front door and handle. Our neighbour also had problems, their bathrooms were completed without the shower niche but they got them several shower screen and tiles later. Thanks hermyleen, it's just been so difficult watching our house been built from three streets away and feeling like its never going to be complete. ebanderson - sorry, I'm not sure how much the upgrade will be Re: Building The Esperence with Eden Brae 16Apr 02, 2009 8:38 am Bernadette ebanderson - sorry, I'm not sure how much the upgrade will be Bernadette, it's OK. I going to find out in the PGH center this weekend anyway. Just want to get some idea beforehand. So, what roof tile are u choosing now? Re: Building The Esperence with Eden Brae 17Apr 15, 2009 12:53 am It's been 10 weeks since our original practical completion inspection notice from EB. It's been 10 weeks to complete the driveway, footpath, change a front door and complete paint touch-ups. We had to call our SS today since it's been a week since Tyrells completed their inspection, last Monday 6th April. We were advised by our SS there are several items which have not passed the inspection so they are planning to be addressed soon. Re: Building The Esperence with Eden Brae 18Apr 15, 2009 7:05 am I gather then B, that you're not in yet - you're still waiting for these issues to be resolved ??? Has EB gone beyond the agreed biuld period ? 10 weeks ??? Built the Eden Brae Cambridge 34 Family with Boston Corner Facade Re: Building The Esperence with Eden Brae 19Apr 16, 2009 2:55 am Not in yet The most important repairs have been completed which was all of a few days work. The painters have returned yet again as Tyrrells didn't pass their work. As we started on the 30th June 2008 we are at 41 weeks as of this week. Contract period was 29wks build time plus the clause of 5wks xmas break = 34 weeks total as per the contract. So they are currently 7 weeks outside the contract The Buildsure agreement has been raised although we were told the claim has to be made after settlement Re: Building The Esperence with Eden Brae 20Apr 16, 2009 6:59 am Bernadette The Buildsure agreement has been raised although we were told the claim has to be made after settlement What's this ??
