Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jul 03, 2011 12:12 am Would you go for bright goldtone, bright chrome or satin chrome gainsborough handles. I have to select from 8901ANG bright chrome or satin chrome or 890TLE bright goldtone. I have seen few goldtone handles's top layer coming off. Don't know if that happens with bright chrome or satin chrome as well. Any experience good or bad or any photos? thanks Re: handles for stained front door 2Jul 03, 2011 12:55 am Hi.. We have Gainsborough handles here as well - I can't remember the item code, just that it was the tri-lock style. We went with satin chrome for all our door handles... no real reason why, just preferred the look of them. The front door has a Merbau stain, all the internal doors are painted. Here's some pics of the front door. http://i123.photobucket.com/albums/o314/Nic1311/03072011246.jpg http://i123.photobucket.com/albums/o314/Nic1311/03072011245-1.jpg (Excuse quality of pics... camera battery is dead, so I took these on my phone) Built the Coral Homes Hamilton 252 - moved in 20/10/2010 and loving it!! https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?t=27215 Re: handles for stained front door 3Jul 03, 2011 2:43 am I personally would go for satin chrome but that's just because I prefer the look Goldtone isn't used much any more as it is now quite dated, but it also doesn't handle the weather very well (my front doorknob/faceplate is about 20 years old and has almost no gold left on it). I have heard that bright chrome doesn't weather quite as well as satin chrome, but I haven't seen it myself to confirm for sure. If it helps, about 80-90% of my prestart clients choose satin chrome rather than bright chrome, and that's without me steering them either way.
