Inspired Homes? 22Mar 02, 2009 8:17 am Annietom joles ACTNOW, I'm not sure of the price, but I have a little bit of info that may interest you. The Point Cook Atrium display closes today. The new Point Cook display wil open on 7th March (I think). There will be a new design in the displays. It is basically the same as the Atrium but the minor bedrooms are to the rear and the master to the front. The name of the design escapes me, but I think it begins with O. the Atrium plan will still be available. Joles, seriously, ASIO is worried about you, it is clear you know too much! lol PS: where do you get this stuff, I gotta have your source!!! Annie Haha, Annie I could tell you, but then I'd have to kill you! Let's just say I tend to be able to get people chatting. I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. Terrence Malick Re: Building our first home in Point Cook, Vic. Inspired Homes? 24Mar 15, 2009 2:23 pm Hi All,
New to this forum, keen to read about other member's experiences with Porter Davis & this seemed like a good place to start! Hubby & I have signed on to build the Atrium 36 in Melbourne's east. We need to demoilish our existing home first, and that's the tricky part so far, disconnections, permits, capping of sewers & pipes etc... the list is endless & the process overwhelming.... Anyhow, to answer your question ACTNOW we've taken pretty much every upgrade available & the cost v. the base price is frightening, our base is $218k, final contract's come in at almost $350k. There are sooooo many little extras you don't even consider; base plate to oven, side stone extensions to kitchen bench top, extended slab to al fresco (yes, you only get dirt as stnd!) to name but a few...EVERYTHING other than the frame & plaster board is extra!! We loved the Pt Cooke display which is now closed & modelled many of our options on this (though the colour scheme's a bit dark) as well as taking some ideas from the Truganina display. Having done a walk-thru with the sales consultant 3 times & having been through all the tender, colour selection, & pre-contract rigmorole over the past few months I feel as though I could write a university thesis on PD's Atrium, so fire away an questions! Having said that we haven't even turned the soil yet (!) so I'll be very keen to hear from other people building the Atrium (or other PD homes) to get some good advice & make sure we look out for the right things.. Amy Re: Building our first home in Point Cook, Vic. Inspired Homes? 25Mar 26, 2009 8:14 pm Hi Amy, 350k, wow! thats alot...not sure if you saw my post before this but we are also building the Atrium and we loved the PT Cook Display so we are modelling the majority of our home on that. We sorted out the bi-fold door saga in the end. They admitted to their mistake after i produced the correct evidence so we didnt have to pay the 13,500k to get the bi-folds we fell in love with in that display. Our final contract ended up coming to around $285k but we left out all floor coverings as we have a friend that does floorboards for about half the price that PD charges. Having said that, there is so much they over charge you for. Alot is really cheap but they sting you in other areas to make up for it. I would have loved to have built this home over my side of town but could not afford the land. Would love to see some pics of your home when you finish it. I will post some pics on here soon of where we are up to...we will be in the house in about 8 weeks time with any luck. Any questions feel free to ask.. cheers Doug Re: Building our first home in Point Cook, Vic. Inspired Homes? 26Apr 02, 2009 7:37 pm Everything is coming along nicely for us, and our dream home should start around July. We're over the moon with the design from Inspired Homes. The total price, turn key will came in slightly under 300k, which we're happy with. The total size came to just under 42sq's in the end. That should do us for a while I'll be sure to start a blog when the building starts. Planning 4th build and move Glutton for punishment Re: Building our first home in Point Cook, Vic. Inspired Homes? 29Apr 03, 2009 10:38 pm The inspired floorplans are really nice. I like the way it all flows. Very nice! All the best, we will be looking up for updates once your land is settled in June. A thesis hey..well you're exactly the person I should be talking to..: ) Hi Amy, thankyou very much for your reply and my apologies for getting back to this discussion so far down the track. this is the first time I've logged in since my last post on this forum. Work has been relentless for last 2months. Anyway, back to the ATRIUM. The information you have provided us is really insightful. Firstly Congratulations on your purchase and you're fortunate to be able to build on the east. We couldn't afford to buy in the east(within 20km of CBD anyway). Question, when you say 'pretty much every upgrade available', does that mean pretty much everything offered in the display home or are you talking above and beyond that offered in the display ? I'm assuming the display in PC has every upgrade available. $350K is quite a lot of moola. I agree that the colour scheme is a bit dark. Did you opt for same colours ? I noticed that there was no internal entry from the garage also but I'm sure you can request one be put in. I really liked the display homes gargage which was 2.5car garage. Is this standard size for the Atrium36 ? How long have they said it would take to build the house. thanks alot and all the best with the build. Please keep us posted of your experience with PD and how the house is coming along. cheers.
