Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Feb 09, 2009 3:07 pm I thought I'd join in the fun and post my house progress....building a house is such a ride...I'm still unsure whether I want to be on it or off it....
We're building in Sydney in the Hills district, we've gone through the demolition stage, slab foundation, framing, brickworks and now roof. We started building in Oct08 but signed up with EBH in Apr08. Brickworks are still to be completed but we have roof...things have been moving quite slowly since the start of the year... Here are some pics of the house, we're building a Madisson 36. Not the biggest house but big enough for the three of us plus puppy. http://picasaweb.google.com/hermyleenb/ ... directlink Re: EBH - Independent Inspection - advice please 2Feb 09, 2009 10:18 pm Hi and welcome. I'm building an EB Memphis 28MK3. You will find plenty of good info on the site.
All the best. Re: EBH - Independent Inspection - advice please 3Feb 10, 2009 8:28 am I think the Memphis is a great design, I would have preferred a single storey house but restricted by the corner block we have. I just read your thread on your build - how did you do the landscape plan. I have no idea which plants go best where and which ones to have????how did you draw the plans?? Re: EBH - Independent Inspection - advice please 4Feb 11, 2009 11:59 am Hi, I used the "Paint" app in windows. HSC only require a concept plan so nothing too fancy required. Not sure about Hills Shire though. Some councils require a higher level of detail than other shires..
I had a quick look on the Hills website http://www.thehills.nsw.gov.au/ goto "Development" then "Development Control Plan" then scroll down to "Part D Section 3 - Landscaping" Have a read and it should tell you all you need to know regarding minimum requirements for plan production, approved plants and trees for the shire and a list of noxious plants as well. good luck. Re: EBH - Independent Inspection - advice please 5Feb 13, 2009 2:00 pm thanks for this much appreciated Most of the time, council will push you out to a private certifier as it ties up their limited resources. Where a builder has gone belly up, the certifier passes the file… 7 5376 That is a really good attitude Akin to you catch more flies with honey than vinegar. I do enjoy watching that tik tok inspector from Victoria but he does go a little… 12 81889 It is true that a builder can ignore your independent inspection report as it is not part of the contractual arrangement but that is stupid because he cannot avoid fixing… 9 46858 |
