Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Feb 08, 2009 9:00 am Well, we are very close.. construction certificate approved.. waiting on work permit only.. should be on site next week... hope so anyway as EB have mentioned if they are not they will raise the price.. I won't accept that though as they have been the cause of delays.. I really hope we don't have to pull the plug as a matter of principal!
Here is the blog... wish us luck http://casadelscaramanga.blogspot.com/ Re: EB Bridgeport 26....done! Picked up the keys... :) 2Feb 08, 2009 9:37 am Good luck franco. We are building with EB also.
Apart from their stance on non-negotiation on pricing, their exorbitant charges on upgrades & a hiccup with flooring, we have been generally happy with them. Didn't want to update the blog until it was sorted out.
The latest is that the roof is now done & the cladding, brick cleaning & removal of scaffolding should hopefully be complete next week. Picked up the keys... :) 5Feb 09, 2009 1:46 pm I can't believe EB is thinking of increasing their price again - they only increased their prices in Sep/Oct last year; in this economic climate I don't think it will help business increasing their price. We are building with EB too and they tried to increase our contract price as well just before we were about to start building (we already paid the 5% deposit). We stood our ground as they were the ones causing the delays as well - it took us from Apr08 (accepting tender) to Oct08. The kitchen quote took 7weeks before we received it and the colour selection process took the same amount before we received any answers back...it was just done poorly; I think it had a lot to do with out customer service person who was useless. Our build is happening at the same stages as the Southies - almost days apart it seems like. Re: EB Bridgeport 26....done! Picked up the keys... :) 6Feb 10, 2009 12:47 pm Sounds like I'm not the only one then. I am going to stand my ground on this as well. If we were behind the delays we would suck it up, but we're not and we're not going to be pushed around!
It looks like your house is far along already. Do you visit whenever you want or do you need permission from EBH every time? Re: EB Bridgeport 26....done! Picked up the keys... :) 7Feb 10, 2009 1:00 pm according to our contract you have to let them know and must be with you...but I have my ways Re: EB Bridgeport 26....done! Picked up the keys... :) 8Feb 13, 2009 10:35 am Good news. Deadline has been met, EBH will be starting work next week weather permitting!!
Judging by the weather at the moment and the weekend forecast (rain) I hope there is no delay with the start. Fingers crossed. Re: EB Bridgeport 26....done! Picked up the keys... :) 10Feb 13, 2009 11:40 am great news franco - hoping that the rain stops at some point for you & for us. DH emailed me this morning to say that rain is forecast for the next 4 weeks - nooooooooo Built the Eden Brae Cambridge 34 Family with Boston Corner Facade Detailed floor plan on the blog now.. and.. 11Feb 17, 2009 10:51 am EBH sign post has been placed on the site.. that covers all the activity so far..
Should charge for the advertising space I think. And the rain continues... http://casadelscaramanga.blogspot.com/ Re: EB Bridgeport 26....done! Picked up the keys... :) 12Feb 23, 2009 5:46 pm So.. the earthworks began today.... and guess what.. the workers uncovered a few small pieces of asbestos on the surface here and there... so I've contacted the demolition company to clean that up..
On top of this, there are a few bricks here and there which EBH want removed - these are just a handful of bricks laying about which were left behind by the demolition people.. EBH have instructed to have 100mm of the site lifted and taken away.. to avoid having to drill into any bricks or anything that may be under the surface.. Anyone come across this kind of thing before? I'm not happy about the asbestos thing, even if it is only a hand full of pieces here and there and I will sue and take this to the media if the demolition guys don't clean that up.. but as far as a few bricks here and there and having to scrape 100mm off the site.. Some pictures.. of all this on my blog http://casadelscaramanga.blogspot.com/ reply 13Feb 23, 2009 6:27 pm Hope everything is sorted out with your build soon!
Is that Ed3n Bra3 you are building with? They are like the clone of PD but in NSW - I like your floorplan, and the shape of the alfresco! The shape looks different to the PD Bridgeport. Picked up the keys... :) 14Feb 23, 2009 6:34 pm Yeah building with EBH... the only good news to come from today is that the site supervisor assigned to me appears to be a pretty good person..
Nothing but delays at every stage though.. been at this for 8 months now.. painful... I read somewhere that EBH and PD are connected - don't know if that is true though reply 15Feb 23, 2009 6:45 pm Well I hope that they hurry up! 8 MONTHS??
I also heard that EB and PD are connected, i THINK they are from Barrett Group who owns PD. Not sure though. They both have Lifestyle and Prestige homes.. so I guess they are connected? Picked up the keys... :) 17Feb 26, 2009 1:31 pm Well, it's all pretty messed up at the moment. The demolition company are dragging their feet and constantly stalling.. my home site is contaminated with Asbestos and other building materials and there is nothing I can do about it. EBH have closed up and won't return until the asbestos is removed.
I have a complaint in against the demolition company with Work Cover. I swear.. 8 months to get to the point so that construction can start.. 2 hours in and site closed for god knows how long now. What a nightmare. I should have bought already built. Can I name the company so they can be shamed? http://casadelscaramanga.blogspot.com/ Demolition people get their act together. 18Mar 01, 2009 4:50 pm I was pleasantly surprised when I drove by today to see demo unit onsite ready to scrape the land tomorrow. Threatening I would bring the media in really got them going.. They will still need to deal with the Work Cover Inspector though!
