Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Feb 06, 2009 9:29 am Hi Guys! Anyone had any experience building with Fowler Homes? All I see here is Wisdom and Eden Brae, but I've seen Jandson, Cosmo and Fowler products up at Nelson's Ridge and they are awesome homes.
Just wondering if there have been personal experiences. Also anyone looking for a stylish/functional design should check out these 3 for reference. Cheers! --- I don't have a signature - just this sentence saying that I don't have one - that'll do! Re: Fowler homes or Jandson homes? 2Feb 06, 2009 10:15 am We looked at Fowler - they seemed quite flexible with their designs and had some nice modern facades. However the sales guy that I dealt with was absolutely horrible so I wrote them off the list.
I think Cosmo have nice houses too - we were looking at the Aquarius 29 but they wouldn't give us pricing on the facades or upgrade packages unless we went to tender which I didn't think was at all professional. Re: Fowler homes or Jandson homes? 3Feb 10, 2009 6:24 am We also considered Fowler and they came down to our final two. The reason that they lost out was that the quality of finish in their there display homes was inconsistent. What you will also find is that the display home in Nelson's Ridge had a lot of upgrades over the standard inclusion list. Re: Fowler homes or Jandson homes? 4Feb 10, 2009 7:14 am We have chosen Jandson Homes for our builds and experience so far has been excellent. Awaiting for a final piece of the landscape plan before we submit our DA to council.
Jandson has also been quite flexible in terms of altering their designs to suit our land width and also when we request to extend part of the house. Costs of variations also came back reasonable compare to other builders. I like Cosmo as well but they didn't have a layout of rooms that we like in their designs. Not sure about the costs of Cosmo though. Know nothing about Fowler. Re: Fowler homes or Jandson homes? 5Feb 10, 2009 9:45 am We've gone to tender with Fowler, lets see what they come back with. They're actually doing the contour survey and soil test (i saw the bore holes on my land last week) so i hope their tender has no "provisions" as they said.
We tendered with Jandson as well and they forgot to add the 2nd Garage and quoted a wrong base price for the house, quite obvious miss outs. Its in re-tender now, we haven't written them off, still considering. Their display home at Stonecutter's ridge is all standard, you'd probably want to upgrade a few things for sure (same with any builder). What i've noticed is, every builder adds X amount of money to their base price, give or take a few $, the only way you can remain under budget is to choose a plan that has a lower base price to start with. Sure the end-package price might make the difference on similar priced homes, but if the base price is $20K different to a comparable square home, theres no way it'll come within the budget. Cosmo are expensive for what they offer in terms of layout and covered area, their homes are open n functional but not the best utilized. Plus their facades cost a fortune to upgrade to. That's my story till now. Still would like to get more opinions if Fowler/Jandson dont work out, my next option would be Wisdom, but their facade selection is very limited too .. designs are functional though. --- I don't have a signature - just this sentence saying that I don't have one - that'll do! Re: Fowler homes or Jandson homes? 6Feb 10, 2009 10:38 am Fowler Homes look interesting ...we have just received our brochures/DVD from McDonald Jones Homes today... they have similar ideas to Fowler... they look great...according to their web site they also build out at the Ponds Trust in the Universe I would never build with Fowler homes. I built with them in 2021 and till date maintenance issues are pending. All their existing trades and businesses don't work with… 14 105532 Anyone built with Fowler Homes? Feedback?
