Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Feb 05, 2009 7:32 am Hi all,
Our kitchen has just been installed and when I went to peak through the windows last night to check the progress I saw something that I wasn't happy with. We have a long island bench in our kitchen and the front wall of the island bench (which looks out to our dinning room), is made up of two pieces of polyurethane, rather than one full piece. This means there is a line in the middle of our island bench wall. I expected this to be one smooth complete piece. Before I complain does anyone know if polyurethane is a heavy product that can only be cut into certain sizes? I assume they will use this excuse so want to do some research before I complain. Sorry if this is a blasé question, I wasn’t able to take photos so can only try to explain what I mean. I’m going to arrange an appointment with our SS to discuss tomorrow, so will try to take some photos. Thanks for your help Re: Kitchen Question 2Feb 05, 2009 8:02 am I am having 2 pak gloss and my cabinet guy told me I will be having a join in the middle. Our island is 3.6m long
Maybe this is normal I think its something to do with the making up of them if the area is too long maybe risk of bowing or cracking as they are making them. I am having moulded panels to match the doors there will be 2 each side of the join and 1 around each side of the island bench. So I think with the panel look it wont look too bad. dont know about if it is plain though sorry. Know where your going in life............... you may already be there Re: Kitchen Question 4Feb 06, 2009 7:06 am Thanks borg and taffy
I'll measure our island bench to see how long it is. I think it may be longer than 2.4 meters, as its pretty big. Thanks again and have a nice day. You can really use anything you want the main consideration would be how it looks once painted/finished - or the look you want. Cabinetmakers use MDF because its cheap… 2 9960 I would say both styles you have pictured are steel. The lower chord of the first pic would be a massive lump if made using timber considering the size of the rafters. If… 1 6151 1 13125 |
