Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Feb 04, 2009 9:02 pm Hi ,
We have got our own plans and rawdon hill is happy to build them and the price they have quoted is really competitive. Kind let me know if some of you have experience in dealing with rawdon hills. Thanks Vishal Re: Anyone building with Rawdon Hill 2Feb 05, 2009 9:33 pm We didn't actually build with Rawdon Hill, but we do live in a RH Birchwood house that was built approx 9 years ago (we are the 3rd owners).
We have recently had some work done due to ** workmanship or inferior products. For example, a roof truss had broken and caused the ceiling and cornice to bow. We have decorative cornice in all the living areas and it had come away from the wall in many places too so we just had all that repaired. The brickwork does not meet the window frames on 2 of the windows so there is a visible gap of approx 2cms. The house was made bigger (35 squares) but no allowance was made for extra downpipes so when it rains heavily the gutters leak. The ducting in the roof for the heating system always come off every year so it blows hot air into the roof. My husband has to go up into the loft to duct tape them back together. The paint job was terrible and the paint quality quite inferior. We had to re-paint the whole house as we couldn't get the marks off the walls when we moved in. Despite these few issues, I do like their homes and I would say they are comparable to any other volume builder. It will be interesting to see if our next building experience with Porter Davis is any better. Blog: http://bluemistkids.blogspot.com "Never be afraid to try something new. I really appreciate that Cheers Vishal Rawdon Hill 4Feb 17, 2009 5:17 pm Having built with them 2 years ago I have to say they are really good untill you move in the 13 week maintenance check will not be addressed as they will blame the drought, the fact that they can stuff up 5% so if something needs to be fixed it has to cover 5% of the area. They will not response as they dont have custormer service once you have moved in and in general the staff is getting rude once they have your money from the receptionist to the financial controller. I would advise if you are building with them not to move in/ accept the key untill you are a 1000% happy as they really dont care anymore. This is not just me but I know other people that built with them and they couldnt be bothered fighting with them. Thanks mate 5Feb 18, 2009 10:32 am Can you please provide , what exactly went wrong in your whole project.
I will be happy to know , where do they stuff up and I can take care at each step. Thanks alot Re: Anyone building with Rawdon Hill 7Feb 18, 2009 11:23 am mattydals I'm tipping RawdonSucks is a spammer ??? More likely someone on here who created a second username for that post, someone who might be a bit jaded Not a spammer just a very satisfied Rawdon Hill customer as they get you in the house do the handover and than leave you alone as nothing is their fault and not willing to fix anything. I suggest do the 13 week maintenance before moving in. Dont pay the final installment untill you are 100% satisfied. I cant fault them untill the handover, but then they have your money, and you see how sloppy their tradesman are. Apparently you cant be honest and say how you feel about your house/builder without being called a spammer..........And as mentioned previous I really cant fault them untill the handover Howdy all.
