That being said, I would love our place to have either ethernet or fibre optic, ( too expense) but I went with the easier solution. It may not be too far away that ethernet is likely to be too slow.

Ethernet cable is about 30c a metre for cat 6.. cheaper if cat 5e.. So say you are doing a distance of 15m that would cost you about $4.50 for the cable and about $2-$3 for the krone sockets and about $10 for a couple of faceplates. So all up one room to room would cost you about $20. Certainly alot cheaper than Ethernet over Power and a huge difference in speed.
However ethernet over power means you don't need to go putting wiring in the walls.. so for pre-established homes it is alot easier.
