Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Feb 02, 2009 12:27 pm Hi,
My girlfriend and I live in WA and are planning to build a house. We're first home buyers and we are learning more and more about home building every day. We've been looking at house plans for the last couple of weeks and we have found a design by Content that is perfect for us and we've been impressed with the customer service of the sales person with them. I'm actually going down this afternoon to see the plan after a few changes we've made. We've also been speaking with Easy Living and their sales person has been very helpful, some of their plans are good and they seem to be very keen to try and accommodate us with modifications and keeping it within our budget. We get the impression that Easy Living might be a slightly better quality builder than Content. I don't know exactly where that impression came from though. Has anyone had experience with either of these builders? and how exactly do you tell if one builder is better than another? All I can think of is things like door handles. Are there actually differences in the building quality, brickwork etc.? Any help is appreciated, thanks. Re: Thinking of building with * or Easy Living 2Feb 02, 2009 9:24 pm I am building with Content and am awaiting the roof tilers. This is my first build though I have owned previous homes. I am very pleased with the steady progress that has been made on my home. I visit the block daily and was impressed with the brickie, he cleaned up after he finished as well!
Perhaps do a search to see what others have written about Content. I am building in the South West, so far no complaints. Falconbrook. My girlfriend and I are attempting to build with * right now, mostly for the same reasons you mentioned - the good designs and the good salespeople. We're dealing with the guy who runs the Ellenbrook display. At the end of November we signed a PPA to draw up the Ontario on a block in Brookdale and they said it would be ready at the beginning of January. That deadline passed and they told us they needed another three weeks. That was annoying and we had to arrange an extension on the land contract (as we are trying to finance it as a house and and package to avoid the stamp duty) and everything was okay. But now that time has passed and they still haven't drawn up the plans and we're having a hard time getting hold of anyone who knows what's going on and they apparently aren't very good at returning phone calls. If they can't deliver on the plans soon then we're looking at the developer pulling the plug. It will be a shame though- we really liked the design we had and we'll be down by $2500. I saw pretty good display homes from Easy Living in Forrestdale and Butler but we didn't end up exploring their designs any further. Perhaps we should have! Some others that interested us but are perhaps not as good value are Ultimate Homes, Blueprint and New Generation. isn't a garage level with the rest of the house a given? pretty sure they 'came around' long time ago. if you have a flat block, the garage is usually level with the rest… 1 17400 DIY, Home Maintenance & Repair I mean, I install them/sell them for a living so I haven't done DIY, unless you count the first one I installed lol.
