Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Feb 02, 2009 9:39 am Hello all, we are considering buying a 'soon to be completed' spec home from AVJ in Brisbane. Had a walk through, still waiting on carpets and clean.
Does anyone have advice on what to look out for? Will we be able to get fix ups for marks and stuff before we move in, or will it be as is where is? The salesperson was not very interested in talking to us about details. I take it we will be covered by statutory building guarantees. Sorry for the newb questions, we were focussing on buying established homes and this buying from the developer is new to us. Re: Buying spec home from AVJ 2Feb 02, 2009 10:15 am AV J have had alot of bad reviews from customers on this site, with there customer service being the major bug bear. They seem to be in a little be of trouble at the moment.

(just my opinion but as the hoiuse is nearly aready completed, maybe a independant house inspection could ease your mind... if they allow it) Re: Buying spec home from AVJ 3Feb 02, 2009 10:21 am Adding to that I have a friend that built with them and although the building process was a nighmare they are very happy with the quality of the build so a nearly completed maybe the best way to go if you like their designs. Re: Buying spec home from AVJ 4Feb 02, 2009 11:49 am Get a building inspection !! Even though it is a new home and should be covered by builders insurance do you want the hassle of chasing up things that should be done - either do before or sign with provision "subject to buyer satisfaction of building inspection". Good luck. Many positives getting a new home but not going through the building process Yeah I don't know why I came to a forum. Place is full of wierdos/pedos thought internet may help but I suppose I'll try my luck with someone in person. Cheers. I tried… 0 6444 We already paid for somfy motors for the blinds.
