Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jan 31, 2009 7:45 pm Hi Guys .. Just thinking how much does the following cost:
- Garage door opener with remote (for a roller type or panel lift) (the one big one not the two small one for double garage) - Home security alarm system (3-5 zones or more) I'm probably looking to do these myself as the builder wont bundle it with the price, or i'm not choosing to --- I don't have a signature - just this sentence saying that I don't have one - that'll do! Re: Garage door automation & Home alarm system? 2Jan 31, 2009 7:53 pm hi bluemetal, can't help with the garage door, as this was included in our house build and we just paid the upgrade price, but we just went looking at security systems today. We found one at Harvey Norman for $1899, which included a year free of back-to-base contact, a main central sensor and two extras, with 2 remote controls. Can't remember the brand sorry.
We are now comparing it with this one that we found online. Interestingly it is also Harvey Norman, but we couldn't get this deal instore, it is only available online. It seems a lot cheaper ($948) for what basically seems the same thing http://www.harveynormansecurity.com.au/home_alarms.html That's about where we're at, so will be interesting to watch this thread... I wonder why I am only quoted for 2 handheld only, not with the third transmitter to fix to the wall. Re: Garage door automation & Home alarm system? 9Feb 03, 2009 9:23 am We got our alarm and garage door through the builder, rather cheap!
The alarm, two sirens, one siren driver, four senors, one code pad, one control panel, phone line, its a hills system, costed us $1094. Colourbond panel door with two remotes and one wall remote $440 Re: Garage door automation & Home alarm system? 10Feb 03, 2009 2:54 pm My DH got recommended insec.com.au also. He rang up, spoke to the guy who seemed very knowledgable and flexible, and we are getting it installed tomorrow. Not sure of the specs but I think it is coming in at under or around the $1000. I know it is hard wired, not wireless, so might be the same as chuth77's. Will update this thread once it's installed. Re: Garage door automation & Home alarm system? 11Feb 04, 2009 8:49 pm Our security system has been installed.
It's a 'Hills' one; we got the base unit, 5 sensors, a panic button & external blue flashy light installed for $1005. So far so good, we haven't been broken into yet!
