Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jan 30, 2009 11:50 pm hi there all those who are building with coral, just wondering how long it was between the date you signed the FC & their start date...I have my first appoinment with coral tommorrow at the block, they have advised 6-8 weeks between initial deposit and contract date - obviously dependent upon how many changes you make! 2014 - Prepping to build the Soho 4 with Plantation homes, industrial style 2009 - Built the Brampton with Coral Homes viewtopic.php?f=31&t=15399&start=280 Re: Coral and their timelines... 2Jan 31, 2009 6:57 am Hi,
We're building with coral too, out at Regency Downs. We signed our contract on Monday. The contract said commencement date is 9th of April. I guess it depends on how long the council takes to approve the plans and how long the bank takes to get our loan approval to back to coral though because it says on or before the 9th of April. Re: Coral and their timelines... 3Jan 31, 2009 7:46 pm We ae currently building with coral also. I think it really depends on which council you are going through. Our D.A took only 22 days where we live but JellyLegs(also with coral) had to wait anout 3-4 months from memory
We signed our contract in august I think, and our slab was poured on the 1st of december. I spoke to the builder this week and he said it looks like we have the house mid-end of march.. Woo Hoo!! Which plan have you chosen... any modifications? Built a modified "Daydream 279" .. Cor@l Homes on a flat 4473m block!! And lov'n it!!! Re: Coral and their timelines... 4Jan 31, 2009 8:43 pm hi melza09 thanks for your reply, that's a pretty good indication as you are not far away from me at all, is regency downs part of esk shire council? fernvale is in somerset...hope all goes well with your build! if you don't mind me asking what did they end up charging for site costs and what kind of block have you got? 2014 - Prepping to build the Soho 4 with Plantation homes, industrial style 2009 - Built the Brampton with Coral Homes viewtopic.php?f=31&t=15399&start=280 Re: Coral and their timelines... 5Jan 31, 2009 9:03 pm hi kylie, have read you blog...love your house!! awesome kitchen! i am going to be building a brampton 163 (i am 21, single mum - it's taken 2 years of planning and saving to get here so i am starting to get really excited!) our block is a 1000m2 corner block in a lovely estate about an hour from brisbane, as far as mods go we'll add the two 1800mm windows to the front of the house and have the garage door to the side (as per their display home at redbank plains) plantation facade, i'm moving a couple of doors around and have added some extra cupboards to the kitchen so that it is a u shape with a brekkie bar (more like urs!) would have loved an internal laundry but sometimes you've just gotta stick to ur budget your build seems to be going so well, congratulations!!! 2014 - Prepping to build the Soho 4 with Plantation homes, industrial style 2009 - Built the Brampton with Coral Homes viewtopic.php?f=31&t=15399&start=280 Re: Coral and their timelines... 6Jan 31, 2009 10:10 pm Hi BWC09,
Yep, as Seakyl said, our council approval took forever for both development approval and plans approval, and the bank messed us around quite a bit too. We started this process about 18mths ago now, but Coral have ALWAYS been on the ball, one step ahead of us most of the time. They've also been exceptionally easy to work with unlike a few others I've read about here. From my experience, I don't think you'll have any probs with them delaying anything for you. Construction starts for us next week, so hopefully their great service will be continued then. Good luck with it, I look forward to seeing how it all goes for you. Re: Coral and their timelines... 7Jan 31, 2009 11:03 pm hi jellylegs, i have read ur story , congrats on finally getting a start date! i hope all goes well from here on in with no more delays...it's really good to hear that Coral have been great, very reassuring! I was worried today before my meeting with them, i have purchased a corner block and was concerned that my preferred design (brampton 163) wouldn't be suitable, but the guy who met me on site said, no, it would be perfect! very happy! 2014 - Prepping to build the Soho 4 with Plantation homes, industrial style 2009 - Built the Brampton with Coral Homes viewtopic.php?f=31&t=15399&start=280 Re: Coral and their timelines... 8Feb 01, 2009 7:21 am Regency downs is in the Laidley Shire.
We are building the Brampton 195 on an acre block. Site costs are approximately $10 000 but then added to that is the sewerage, stormwater dispersal, connection to water tank and water tank costs. I would allow up to $20 000. Sounds pricey but our final contract price came in under our budget so we were stoked about that. Re: Coral and their timelines... 9Feb 01, 2009 10:51 am that is great that u were under budget!! $10,000.00 in site costs sound quite reasonable, they have allowed $13,500.00 for mine but hopefully it will not be quite that much as my block only needs a small cut and fill, no retaining...yay!! with the water tank and pump i am going to purchase my own and pay coral to install, they wanted $9200.00 for 2 x 5000L water tanks, but i know i can pick up 1x 10,000 L tank and a good quality pump for less than $2000.00 - coral will charge a couple of grand to install and connect or i can have a plumber do it - either way i think it's definitly a place to save money! 2014 - Prepping to build the Soho 4 with Plantation homes, industrial style 2009 - Built the Brampton with Coral Homes viewtopic.php?f=31&t=15399&start=280 Re: Coral and their timelines... 10Feb 01, 2009 4:28 pm ok guys - a bit concerned - when i had my meeting with the sales consultant from robina yesterday he said you can purchase your own water tank and have coral or a plumber install it, but when i spoke to the lovely lady (she's actually really nice) from the r/bank plains display home she said she didn't think they would let u do that because of the liability that is involved and the 6 year waranty they have to give...does anyone know anything about this? help! 2014 - Prepping to build the Soho 4 with Plantation homes, industrial style 2009 - Built the Brampton with Coral Homes viewtopic.php?f=31&t=15399&start=280 Re: Coral and their timelines... 11Feb 01, 2009 6:06 pm We have purchased our own water tanks, but we have coral to install them. At contract time you will need to give them details of brand, size, ect. there is a particular form for all owner supplied items that you and coral have to sign.. even the fans we are providing... Re: Coral and their timelines... 12Feb 01, 2009 10:35 pm thanks kylie, i'm hoping it should all be alright - i can't see what the problem would be - just worrying anyway 2014 - Prepping to build the Soho 4 with Plantation homes, industrial style 2009 - Built the Brampton with Coral Homes viewtopic.php?f=31&t=15399&start=280 Ask the council if there is a chance of getting build over easement exemption.
