How much does it cost to build a new home?

All,

The first question anyone contemplating building a new home wants to know the answer to is, how much will it cost?

From what I can gather, the cost is:

Project Home $800/m2 to 1200/m2
Custom Design (builder centred) $1400/m2 to 2000/m2
Custom Design (architect centred) $2400/m2 to $3600/m2

I'd be interested if anyone could refine these figures. Any feedback welcome.

The difference in the final product between the Project Home to Custom Design (builder centred) is clear. The question I have is, what do you get extra in the final product with a Custom Design (architect centred) house?

Our house had a list price of $133,000 - it will end up at least $233,000 and this is still not with all the bells and whistles!

Hi Casa,

There's another thread which somewhat related to this? I've asked how much it costs to build a house? The reason I want to know this so that I will have knowledge if I'm getting the best price or not based on the land size and the house size as well.

thats like asking who will win the footy season,You dont know until the end.

All depends on the extras, our single level will be around the $270000 mark i guess

This is a pretty old thread - Casa first posted it in 2007.

He is pretty close to starting his custom design build soon I think? Is that so Casa?
