Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jan 27, 2009 8:59 am Hi Guys! Anyone built with these builders? I'm looking for 26-30sqm Designs to keep myself within budget. Just wanted to know if the experience/repo of these builders is known.
I know cosmo/provincial have built in Pemulwuy (Nelson's ridge/Lakewood) and they have lovely homes. Dunno about champion, but they have nice default facades and designs ... Hmmm!? Also, i've always lived in a unit, so when choosing a design, is it better to have a bigger family/meals area or a bigger drawing/living room. And an upper rumpus, is it really essential? Gosh thats 100 questions already! --- I don't have a signature - just this sentence saying that I don't have one - that'll do! I quite like the feel of the smaller cosmo homes - somehow the ones at Pemulway feel really spacious even though they are small. Somehow this doesn't translate into their larger (35+ square) homes - where space sometimes feels wasted. Depends on what your family is like My immediate family is 12 people (parents, sisters, brothers, spouses) so a large family area with a dining table to seat 12 is on our list. Family get togethers are usually around the dining table for us - rather than sitting around in a lounge area. Upper rumpus was great for us to create a library - we are big bookworms. But they can be useful as kids playrooms or an area where you can dump your teenagers! btw - have you looked at Wisdom Homes? They have some nice designs in the size you're after (love the Trinity on display down at Elderslie - a 30 sq home that feels much bigger) After 4 years - we're in! Re: Cosmo / Provincial or Champion homes? 3Jan 27, 2009 12:43 pm Yup! I've looked at a few by wisdom .. I liked the Impression Series .. I'll give the Imp33 a look. They don't do smaller sized homes for display, which is not good .. How can i possibly get a feel of a smaller home by looking at a bigger one .. Oh well! Still a few more builders to go!
I'm looking into Aquarius 32 by Cosmo, also Altier 26 by the same. --- I don't have a signature - just this sentence saying that I don't have one - that'll do! The Trinity 30 and Esperance (26?) are on display at Elderslie - it's a bit of a drive from the north-west but they are the 2 smaller display homes. I love the Esperance - a really great feeling house (single storey) After 4 years - we're in! Re: Cosmo / Provincial or Champion homes? 5Jan 27, 2009 1:40 pm Hi bluemetal77
We went through the tender process with Cosmo, however we found that it was pretty much a marketing document with no real costs etc. We really loved one of their homes but it ended up being too $$$ for us, so changed tack. My experience is about 18mths old now, but we paid a couple of hundred $$, and all we got back was a document to say how much things cost. There was no contour survey done, soil test etc, so they really couldn't estimate costs properly. If you do love one of there designs, I'd just do some reading on here about site costs etc, and go in armed with that info! (I *think* you just bought at the Ponds??? Is that right?? If you have surveys etc take them with you, then your tender should be more accurate). Hope it helps Bel 1q Still not in. Don't ask!? Re: Cosmo / Provincial or Champion homes? 6Jan 27, 2009 4:13 pm Certainly does help, thanks! Lets see what their "tender" says, if its just another loose estimate, i'm gonna become careful with them. They do say they have a lot of projects and that they're an "upmarket" builder and it'd be a privilege to be with them blah blah ..
I'm tapping other builders too, lets see what comes out of em! --- I don't have a signature - just this sentence saying that I don't have one - that'll do! Cosmo/Provincial or Champion homes ? 7Jan 28, 2009 5:29 pm Friends of mine built with Provincial... they had a good experience right from the sales thro to the home being finished... their prices and product look good ... we would have talked to them but I think we are in the market for a single storey home Trust in the Universe The Dulux colour consultants are awesome. If you show them the photos they should be able to figure it out for you straight away 1 1612 Ask for references and speak to them.
