For anyone who has and are currently building with Mcon. If you have an under bench microwave is it vented? Ours and I know I am not the only one was not installed to manufactures instruction. I had complained to our SS obout how hop the bench on top would get when I was using it, and the amount of condensation inside but alas it was one of those things that they said they would look into but never did. That was until the microwave suddenly over heated and stopped working, by this stage the inside was also very rusty from all the condensation, by the time we got Tecknica out (took them 3 weeks) it was working again but the guy couldn't clean the rust, he confirmed what we had suspected, the unit should be vented. M delivered a new Microwave with in the week but told us not to put the surround cover on until they came and vented it, that was hte beginning of Dec and I am still waiting. We have been using the old one until the venting is done. M want to vent it into the sink cupboard next to it but if they think that is going to happen the are kidding themselves. The amount of condensation would have the cupboard warping in no time. They will need to vent it out the back of the island bench May only apply to those installed in my region in QLD. We also are getting the microwave in the island bench and am not sure if it is vented or not. Thanks for letting everyone know about it, I will ask M today. ryan Building Vancouver 33 - My Thread https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=89689 Re: Under bench Microwave - Built with M 3Jan 27, 2009 7:52 am Mine is also under the bench and the thought never crossed my mind! I'm assuming that if there is enough space on the sides and above the microwave that would suffice? Re: Under bench Microwave - Built with M 5Jan 27, 2009 8:38 am We re going to buy a microwave after construction, so would it be better to get one that gives a little space for breathing? Not sure if that leaves much of a microwave though..... I want to have kids sometime.
Ours will be in an appliance tower, and when it's installed it should be vented right around through a grille at the front as far as I recall. --Mike Everything I know, I learned from SBS. My 18 month old was constantly fiddling with the settings and turning the wattage right down and I was wondering why her milk was still stone cold after 40 seconds may have to getting a microwave with a child lock on it. My parents microwave had a child lock but only while the unit wasnt being used, while it was in use my dd could change all the settings to her hearts content - how stupid is that!
