Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jan 24, 2009 9:47 am This is a new house going up near my mum's.
Mum and all her family, friends and neighbours had been talking about it and I finally went to have a look yesterday. I wish I'd been able to look through it but it has a secure fence around it. Yes it is a round house. Actually it's multi sided but looks pretty much round. Walls are concrete and were craned into place. It's a 2 story house incase you can't tell. I guess "that all depends"..... here's a link to my favourite "round house".....well, all the rooms are round. http://www.myhome.com.au/buy/sa/adelaid ... 0009osk/#/ It was in the next suburb to where we used to live and it sold for in excess of 3.5m. Certainly an example of where lots of $ can be used in a creative way without being ghastly Re: Building an almost round house 7Jan 24, 2009 10:43 am kexkez Zeke stunning house. Certainly an example of where lots of $ can be used in a creative way without being ghastly Yeah, that'd true, hexkez. However, deep down I think I'm a bit of a "square". Hey, even using that expression confirms the fact.....and my age group..... Cheers zeke BTW, one tricky feature that all the locals heard about when it was built in the 70's was a "turntable floor" in the garage........never a need to back out - just press a button to spin the floor around. Re: Building an almost round house 8Jan 24, 2009 10:50 am Sounds like my worst nightmare... I don't even like Bay windows!
What a pain to furnish, unless you can buy round furniture, think of all the wasted space The house in that link is pretty awesome though! Funny you should day that about furnishing the house. My first comment to someone about the house i posted was, "They are going to have fun fitting furniture. ":) It's not my idea of a dream house but I can still admire it. Re: Building an almost round house 10Jan 24, 2009 12:29 pm There's a house like that about 3 hours drive away from me, it's very weird looking and they had lots of problems with leaks. I think it was more of a ******* builder problem. They actually couldn't use the upper level, it didn't pass certain requirements from council and they had to spend a heap more money to make it liveable Re: Building an almost round house 11Jan 24, 2009 12:55 pm What a refreshing change from the boring bungalows and McMansion boxes which can be found by the thousands in those ghetto type subdivisions. Re: Building an almost round house 12Jan 24, 2009 1:01 pm very different thats for sure finished building 40 square home on 5 acres with perry homes.working on the landscaping just finished pool deck with ://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=2217 Re: Building an almost round house 14Jan 24, 2009 1:29 pm oh it's pretty biggish. Would be at 4 x 2 plus sized house. Not sure is there is a garage or come or separate carport. the house is a pretty reasonable in size. The block wasn''t cheap as the house on it originally was in good nick. It's also in a sort after area ( about 5-6 streets) in a smallish suburb. Re: Building an almost round house 17Jan 25, 2009 12:36 pm Ahhh see that I could deal with, because it's actually an Octagon. So it has sides that you can put a couch or a bed or a set of drawers against... straight edges. The round house would do my head in because all the walls are curved too!
