Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Metricon (QLD) Price Rise 2Jan 24, 2009 10:44 am Hi Newone,
We're building with them and we were told of price increases and that we should sign now so we don't miss out. We thought it was a sales tactic too, but when I was speaking with our CSC yesterday, she also mentioned that their prices go up slightly every month. Hope that helps!! Which house are you looking at with them ? Where will you be building ? Crissy Building in Brisbane SW Suburbs Started on site with plumbing on 30/3 - Lock up 2/5 - 15/6 Recd Fixing Invoice - 18/6 Painter to start ! Re: Metricon (QLD) Price Rise 3Jan 24, 2009 1:06 pm I wonder what the effect of the impending possible recession is going to have on promotions and prices offered by volume builders? On one hand raw materials will go up. On the other hand demand is decreasing rapidly. Fi has moved in!! Re: Metricon (QLD) Price Rise 4Jan 24, 2009 9:59 pm Just keep looking at the bonus offers.... And M3tricons in particular...
12 months ago, it was $30,000 for $7000, now its more for less.... They want your business and the only way they can get it is to add bonuses... Electrical Engineer... Don't hold that against me... And keen owner builder... Mainly the building part!! Re: Metricon (QLD) Price Rise 5Jan 25, 2009 4:11 pm I hope not. I just told the M.. sales rep that we weren't going to make a decision til the end of next week, and she didn't mention anything. I know another builder's prices are going up in Feb. Re: Metricon (QLD) Price Rise 6Jan 25, 2009 4:16 pm We were also told that prices were due to rise and keep rising. If the number of builds decreases, the obvious (perhaps naive way) to maintain their profits is to increase prices.
Don't believe that all material prices will increase. Builders are always screwing manufacturers / suppliers over prices. Building prices have steadily increased in the past as commodity prices / labour costs / etc increased. Commodity prices are / have plummetted, and with the number of builders being put off there's no way those guys are getting hefty pay increases this year. I think any talk of price increases is either scare-mongering to secure builds, or a short-term money grab by the builders to offset the reduced number of builds they have on their books. They might also be trying to recover costs from their current promotions. Now more than ever the home owner is in the box seat, not the builders. I'd love to be in a position to be starting a build now, instead of a couple of years ago Hi all. Anyone know when the $11,000 limit was set in legislation for renovations in QLD? Ive been renovating for 5 years now and this was the limit back then. As we know,… 0 4250 Hi, I contracted a Builder to do a Garage to Bedroom + ensuite conversion (Class 1a), the Builder engaged the Certifier and Engineer and received BDA from the Certifier… 0 5034 We used a smaller qld builder who went bankrupt about 12 months after completion of ours.
