Re: Thorney's GJ Lewis Home....Gut Feelings Are Always Right 925Oct 05, 2009 12:30 pm Just read through the last few pages of this thread... and Im feeling for you ! Hope today goes well.. my fingers are crossed for you. I feel the frustration with the bank. We are with 'which bank' and had a nightmare with just getting the loan up and going - Im not even allowing myself to think about the end process... Im sure it will be just as drawn out. One day we had 3 different letters show up, all signed by the same person, all saying different amounts that needed to be contributed for the balance of the 5% deposit. We spent about 3 hours going through the numbers working it out. To this day im sure they dont know whats going on. Never come across an institution (government or private) that take something so easy and make it so entirely complicated !! good luck again! Re: Thorney's GJ Lewis Home....Gut Feelings Are Always Right 928Oct 05, 2009 10:20 pm Hi everyone Just taking a quick break from the seemingly never ending packing to post an update. As you can see by the thread title, our house finally became ours this afternoon ...not without some drama though...fair dinkum as if l haven't had enough of that already!! Called the Bank first thing morning to be told that the valuation did come in on Friday at get this 5.35pm , anyhoo they said that there would no guarantee that the payment would be transferred to the builders account today...WTF!!! Got onto the broker asap and within a half hour he called me back with some good news.....a bank cheque would be waiting for me to collect at the local branch in the afternoon. It's funny, although this morning my gut feeling told me that everything would be ok today, it wasn't until l had the cheque in hand til l felt completely calm, lol... Was at the house at 1pm to let the blind people install the verticals, which look terrific then returned to the house for Handover at 4pm. Bit of a laid back event it was, SS went through various bits of paperwork, handed over the keys and garage remotes, we handed the cheque as well as a card and box of choccies and that was it. l'm a bit miffed that we didn't get any gift...nothing, nada, nilch...oh hang on, we got a thank you letter...woop-de-doo Geez for the money we spent on the house you'd think they'd give us something more than that. Whatever. We spent the rest of the arvo moving bed frames, clothes, all my crystal ware and other bits and pieces. And we have spent the rest of tonight madly packing the rest of our stuff. I'm the only one awake and still have soooo much to do before the removalists arrive early in the morning So l better choof and get back to it. Thank you all for your well wishes for today....l'm sure all the positive vibes and finger crossing helped us get over the line ...and more importantly thank you to everyone who has followed my building journey and shared the joys and excitement and offered advice and support through the lows we have encountered along the way. Seriously l could not have survived this build without you guys! Ok l really got to go....ciao for now Re: Thorney's GJ Lewis Home......Is Officially Ours :) 929Oct 05, 2009 10:28 pm So glad to hear that you finally achieved handover!!!
