Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Feb 04, 2007 9:15 pm I'm about to embark on that great adventure called designing and building my own home. I like the idea of custom builders that use an architect.
I'd be interested in any feedback regarding Grande Homes or Chateau Homes. Has anyone researched them or, better still, used them. Regards, Casa Re: Anyone researched or used Grande Homes or Chateau Homes? 2Feb 09, 2007 1:16 pm Hey Casa,
Can't really help too much... A friend of ours highly praised Chateau Homes, saying they had some great tradespeople and built good homes... He hasn't used them himself, but taken an interest in their work in his area. You certainly pay for their work though... Have a look at their website and it will give you an idea of price per sq mtr.... Let us know how you go in your quest... We're starting down the same path soon... So any info would be much appreciated... By the way, have you had a look at any other Sydney builders ? PS. This same friend, as well as another, also recommended Meadowbank Homes... They have a display home out at Kellyville... Certainly stands out in a crowd !!! Would seriously consider them ourselves, but they don't build in our area (Inner West). Cheers and good luck... Good to hear from you. Looks like we're both at about the same stage in the new home process. Thanks for your feedback regarding Chateau Homes. Yes they are expensive ($1800/m2 for a full brick design). This is about double the cost of a project home, but a lot less than architects are leading me to believe. I've spoken to several architects and the lowest building price is $2400/m2, which is above my budget. $1800/m2 is acceptable if the quality is there. Is your friend who has an interest in Chateau Homes thinking of building in the future? Who are you considering to build your home? Will look at the Meadowbank Homes display homes shortly. It’s a scary process. Keep in touch. Cheers, Casa P.S. Someone viewing this forum must have built with Grande Homes or Chateau Homes (or know someone who has). Would really like some feedback. Re: Anyone researched or used Grande Homes or Chateau Homes? 4Feb 11, 2007 4:53 pm G'day again...
No, this mate who recommended them hasn't actually used them, but has literally watched them build a number of homes in his area... As for Meadowbank, this same friend has also recommended them due to their workmanship, having watched a number of homes be built, again in his area... Another work mate has built with Meadowbank and was very happy with them ! Not much, but I hope it helps... Keep us posted on your findings... Thanks...
