There was nothing really needed apart from the sarking recommendation. MadCow Re: Building an EB Memphis28Mk3*Contract Start date 9/6/2009 82May 14, 2009 9:20 pm Hi Leonard, we are knocking down our house and was hoping you might be able to advise if Telstra came out to your property to disconnect the phone line? And also did you have to arrange a plumber to get the sewerage disconnected? Everyone keeps mentioning that we have to get the electricity, water and gas disconnected but no-one ever says anything about the other 2. Re: Building an EB Memphis28Mk3*Contract Start date 9/6/2009 83May 14, 2009 10:03 pm Hi gkj001, The house I demo'ed used to be my investment property so it was rented out. The phone was dis-con'd by the tenant when they vacated. Are you currently living in the house? and do you want to keep your number after you build your new house? If so, ring your service provider and advise them of your plans to demo and see if they can divert the landline to an alternate service. It will cost you some cash but you will get to keep your number. If you don't care about the number then just cancel it and get a new one when you move in. I did not have gas to worry about. Try ringing AGL or whomever provides your gas and see what the procedure is. My Demo contractor organised to dis-con the power via a sparky they direclty engaged. Cost me $200+GST. There is a form you need to complete to authoirse discon. PM me with your email address and I'll send it to you. Note: Be careful, if you get your Demo contractor to do the power dis-con as some demo guys inflate this charge to make a few extra bucks. A Level 2 ticketed sparky can perform a pole discon to a residential property. Try Yellowpages and ring around. My Demo guy cut the sewer connection at the time of demo with his digger near the sewer connection point to the poperty. No plumber to be seen. As long as what is left of the old sewer pipe is not left uncovered it will be ok. Have you settled on any particular demo contractor? Hope this helps. Rgds Leonard. Re: Building an EB Memphis28Mk3*Contract Start date 9/6/2009 84May 14, 2009 10:40 pm For our demo, we have been told to contact AGL (131245) to remove the Gas Meter. The rest the Demo company will organise. They specifically said We (demo company) will remove your power, water and sewer connections, please do not contact these service providers as confusion will occur. It also states " The contractor requires a minimum of 3.5m of clearance to safely access your site, please be aware of the potential damage to your water meter if it is within this distance. Although the meter is disconnected from the house, it remains connected to the mains - providing temporary water to the site." I am yet to call the demo company and ask what do they mean by this. We won't be doing any demo work until our council approve our plans. MadCow Re: Building an EB Memphis28Mk3*Contract Start date 9/6/2009 85May 15, 2009 9:40 am Hi Leonard Thanks for the help. We are in our house at the moment, this will be our last week. The phone company agreed to hold our phone number for us and we found an electrician to come out and disconnect our electricity for $250 so that's good. I thought maybe Telstra would have to remove the phone line that runs underground but they say no. I thought it might have caused a problem just getting ripped out of the ground by machinery? The company we are using are actually doing it as a favour because my brother works for them. They don't usually do too many of them. He does alot of other work for the council though so it should be okay. This is why we have to arrange to disconnect everything, makes it easier for them to just come in and knock it down Re: Building an EB Memphis28Mk3*Contract Start date 9/6/2009 86May 19, 2009 12:35 pm Hi all, I received a call from a mate who just happend to be driving past my block today. I really didn't expect any action yesterday at all. 10 points for effort. As you can see from the pics the place has turned into a mud pit. Today is not much better (possibly worse) and it rained most of last night as well. I have to go out today so I'll swing by and have a look. I don't expect anyone to be there working. If I was the builder I know I'd be declaring today a rain day. How is progress going on your plans / approvals / etc? Rgds Leonard. Re: Building an EB Memphis28Mk3*Formwork Pics 21/5/09 95May 22, 2009 9:39 am If they're out there today, you know they must be desperate for your payment. Our progress... We are still waiting for the CC, it was supposed to be back last Friday but apparently they are waiting to hear back from the Private certifier to ensure they meet the driveway condition from the Council, is a standard condition so I guess it's just another good excuse to be late... We hope to get it next week and then apparently they'll send the file to estimating and I guess after that we'll get a start date... can't wait! We just realised that we want to change the way the walk in robe door swings (opens) so I'll ask them to change this on Monday, I don't think they'll be happy as we've already been issued with the End Panel (final Tender) so not sure how it will go... Don't forget to upload pics of your slab! Building a Wisdom Prosperity 23 - http://erwisdomprosperity.blogspot.com/ Re: Building an EB Memphis28Mk3*Formwork Pics 21/5/09 98May 24, 2009 3:28 pm Hi Jochicho For us, we received a letter from EB stating that due to materials being ordered it would be very expensive to change anything from now on. So your change that you want may turn out to be a bit more than you thought. On the other hand you may be lucky and they let you change.
