Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jan 20, 2009 10:46 am Ok, we just found out that the tiler will start on Friday this week so I need to decide how I want the feature tiles placed.
Just wondering what others have done.. Would love to see some pics... my brain is melting Built a modified "Daydream 279" .. Cor@l Homes on a flat 4473m block!! And lov'n it!!! Re: show me your feature tiles..PLEASE 2Jan 20, 2009 10:50 am I don't have pics, as our tiles haven't been done yet. But I ran a feature strip around the top of the bath and horizontally around the tope of the shower about 3 tiles down from the top.
Everywhere I looked feature tiles were vertical so I wanted something different. Yet to see how it turns out My karma ran over your dogma Re: show me your feature tiles..PLEASE 3Jan 20, 2009 11:01 am We have a horizontal strip at top of shower (this was taken during build so shower screen not on yet)

Re: show me your feature tiles..PLEASE 4Jan 20, 2009 11:04 am here is the kitchen.. I have bought these feature glass tiles. I think I will place them vertically(like little pencils) about 1 tile down from the overheads. We are having off-white tiles for the main backsplash.

Kylie do you mean that you will cut the sheet of the tile so there is only the one row of 'pencils? Have you checked that it won't cost extra Sorry - don't wont to be the bearer of bad news. IMO they are really nice tiles, if you put them too high you won't see them?? Just a thought.... Bel Still not in. Don't ask!? Re: show me your feature tiles..PLEASE 9Jan 20, 2009 11:24 am yep, they will look like this IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII with one tile (200x300mm) above and 2 below... mmm about the height . will have to check this when the kitchen goes in thursday.. Thanks for pointing that out!
Probably will cost extra, not sure how much though Built a modified "Daydream 279" .. Cor@l Homes on a flat 4473m block!! And lov'n it!!! Re: show me your feature tiles..PLEASE 10Jan 20, 2009 11:28 am Ahhh ensuite looks fab......
I'd put the feature ones around the bath/spa. I'm not very good with placing them in the shower!! This decision stresses me out and we are so far from it!!! Still not in. Don't ask!? Re: show me your feature tiles..PLEASE 11Jan 20, 2009 11:35 am I LOVE those tiles! We have similar glass feature tiles on our bathroom splashback, but we placed them horizontally:
Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ We also have these in the ensuite - not glass, but same kind of design: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ None in the kitchen though....glass splashback instead. I think vertical placement will look fantastic! Re: show me your feature tiles..PLEASE 12Jan 20, 2009 11:37 am bel Ahhh ensuite looks fab...... I'd put the feature ones around the bath/spa. This decision stresses me out and we are so far from it!!! thats why I'm asking all you guys!!! mmm... love the ensuite tiles kek! maybe i should just use the feature tiles for the whole back shower wall, or maybe just 2 tiles wide across horizontal, or maybe 2 tiles wide vertically, but placed in each corner......AAHHH decisions, decisions Built a modified "Daydream 279" .. Re: show me your feature tiles..PLEASE 13Jan 20, 2009 11:42 am Cant upload pictures cause im on our work server, we did a feature entry where we had peddles in a square border as you enter, ive known ppl to use really tiny tiles or broken tiles in the same way a border in the entry.
The rest, line across the bath of those really tiny tiles, niches same really tiny tiles to fill it in, then kitchen just a simple line of different color glass tiles! Re: show me your feature tiles..PLEASE 14Jan 20, 2009 11:46 am I like feature tiles in an area as opposed to in a strip. I like kek's behine the vanities and I like the idea of a wall of the feature tile. Both of our bathrooms will have one wall in the feature tile.
Jo I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. Terrence Malick Re: show me your feature tiles..PLEASE 15Jan 20, 2009 11:48 am mmm, if I went for the whole wall feature in the double shower, what would I do around the bath. How are you having yours joles?

Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ There are lots of ways to use feature tiles around baths too. Just for a few ideas: - tile the hob differently to the "walls" - the vertical surfaces around the bath (no idea of the correct term) - tile the front surface differently to the rest - Use feature tiles as a splashback - Go for a horizontal strip on the front - or I've seen some niches above baths with feature tiles in them. We have a niche, but didn't tile it. Dammit! Re: show me your feature tiles..PLEASE 19Jan 20, 2009 12:08 pm seakyl bel Ahhh ensuite looks fab...... I'd put the feature ones around the bath/spa. I've got some pics on my blog (refer to sig) (although not the best) of the tiles that we used under the mirrors in the bathrooms, bath hob and in all the shower/bath niche's. They're like a slat tile with a sort of 3D look to them. Regards Chris hmmm id assume youll get hit with the "natural product therefore variation in colour etc" excuse. How bad are we talking?
