Wrapping……do we do this in NSW? I don’t think I’ve seen it where I live. What are the benefits of it? Re: Wrapping in NSW???? 3Jan 17, 2009 1:52 pm I thought moisture possibly as well, what happens if you want to insulate the walls as well? You have insulating and wrapping?

That’s the one we use here, in the roof and occasionally on the walls. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ But the one being used in all the photos looks like plastic? I know the blue and silver one and I know what it’s used for, but the plastic is what I find strange. Internal and External Building and Colour Consultant Online - Worldwide http://www.denovoconcepts.com Re: Wrapping in NSW???? 12Jan 17, 2009 7:28 pm Yes that's what we call it, but in the website they call it sisalation.

Ours is more like a tarp. It also has a rip in it around the side
As for WA - I'm now interested to know why they mostly double brick? Internal and External Building and Colour Consultant Online - Worldwide http://www.denovoconcepts.com Re: Wrapping in NSW???? 16Jan 17, 2009 8:01 pm Not sure how it's attached, to be honest I shall have a closer look at it when we're on site again on Monday.
Just did a quick search as I've totally confused myself (not hard lol) as to whether it really is sisalation or, as bel suggested, sarking I think, though not 100% sure, they are the same thing. Maybe we have it here because it's generally colder than NSW? Only a guess though, lol! Re: Wrapping in NSW???? 17Jan 17, 2009 8:11 pm I'm not really sure of the difference between sisalation and sarking, but we have both. The sarking is on the roof and the sisilation is on the external walls. They must be different somehow cause we have 2 different colours/types. On the external walls they have used like a staple gun or something.

Maybe your roof one is a higher grade because of the heat up there.
NOW that sort off wrapping/sarking? I’ve seen here. Internal and External Building and Colour Consultant Online - Worldwide http://www.denovoconcepts.com Re: Wrapping in NSW???? 20Jan 17, 2009 9:43 pm FWIW, in SA sarking is commonly (but not always) used under roofs. I think it is a requirement under tiles in some bushfire-prone areas. We have it under our colorbond roof. BTW, it need to be "draped" between the purlins to be effective as insulation - not pulled tight.
But I haven't seen it used to wrap the walls of brick veneer houses in SA. If we'd been given that option, though, I would have seriously considered it. I can see several ways it would be beneficial and I can't see any real downside apart from the cost, which would be fairly modest in the overall scheme of things.
