Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Simonds 4Feb 05, 2007 4:13 pm Hi We have just building with Symonds in Mornington Melbourne. We are moving in, in 2 weeks time and i have to admit they have been great with no problems. They started at the end of August last year and have been constantly on it apart from the month which builders have off at christmas. We found them very affordable with a great $5000 package which included lots of extras.
We build the Hillcrest 2100 its the 26 square. Obviously you have a lot of extras to add on if you want them and building costs but we just kept to our budget which allowed us to add on extras. Any questions just ask Lisa x x Sounds good 5Feb 06, 2007 10:05 am Hi Lisa
Sounds like they are a good builder! It would be great to see how you rank them on BB. Perhaps you might push Orbit from top spot. It will be also interesting to see if they vary between VIC and QLD. We recently had reviews for the same company, but one for Metro and the other in Rural and the reviews were considerably different! It must feel good to be moving in to your new home! Regards Re: Simonds 6Feb 22, 2007 4:02 pm Hi,
I must admit we had heaps of problems with them during the contract stage. I won't go into what happened but they cost us about 10 months of wasted time and I really had lost faith in them and was very worried. Since then they have employed a customer service manager and after speaking to him I thought he was very good and just what they needed. We are building in the South East Suburbs of Melbourne and our building started in January and I have to admit I've been really happy with progress since then. It is only Feb and they have already practically finished the bricklaying. The site manager is very helplful and seems to really care about his job. I'm happy now and am hoping that everything runs this smoothly to the end of building. Will keep you posted. Also ... someone I know has just finished building their home with Simonds and is really happy with everything. They had it inspected and everything is good apart from some minor repairs to paint work. Re: Simonds 8Feb 27, 2007 12:44 pm Well Sonia333, I'm really happy for you, and it's great that the issues you had with Simonds eventually turned out well.
This is my minor brush with them.... We saw a Simonds home that attracted our interest in Mid Jan of this year - a new one that they had just completed, approx. 50 sq (double Storey). The Sales guy was really very keen when we went through the house, but then we started to ask a couple of questions regarding his quotation, just to clarify a few things that didn't add up or were not expressed clearly - and wouldn't you know it, we are STILL waiting to hear from him. Almost 3 months later. And we are certainly not talking about a $150K house here. Hmm, Simonds must have so much work that they can afford to pick and choose their clients. Do most potential clients question quotations? Or am I the only one? I will certainly NOT be chasing Simonds up for a reply - if they don't want to build a house for me, that's fine, there are plenty of other builders that will. In fact, I'm glad this hiccup happened now, and not after we had signed a contract with them! |
