Re: We've finally started 63Aug 11, 2007 3:09 pm mek,
You're house looks great. I'm envious. I haven't even got past the concept design! Did you get an architect to design the house? Did you get a large or small builder to build it? Cheers, Casa Demolition August 2009, Construction Started September 2009, Completed December 2010 Re: We've finally started 64Aug 11, 2007 7:16 pm Casa, we sat down with our builder who listened to what we wanted and then presented us with the plan. At no charge.
They build about 30 houses a year so I think that would make them medium size? Reading your posts, I am absolutely certain your house is going to be amazing! Re: We've finally started 65Aug 11, 2007 7:35 pm mek,
Thanks for your words of encouragement. You've done well if your builder put together a design at no charge. And a good design at that. Makes what architects charge look embarrassing. Currently my house design is done by myself and I'm an electrical engineer that writes software and designs electronic circuits. I don’t have any qualifications in design and wonder how good the design is. I'll run it by an architect and get it enhanced, but my brief contact with architects has not been promising. It's a pity your builder is in Melbourne. Look forward to hearing more about your house and seeing the finished product. Good luck, will be following your project. Re: We've finally started 67Aug 11, 2007 8:57 pm Casa,
at some point you'll just have to jump in and to hell with how cold the water might be. If you're anything like me then you'd be happy going on and on finessing the design but never really moving forward. if architects haven't worked for you try a draftsman. Re: We've finally started 70Aug 16, 2007 11:04 am Thank you, I'm quite surprised that anyone likes the house really. I'm known to have very strange taste.
Mrs B, looking at the photo above, it does appear that there's space between the drawers - but no, there's handles: I think they're too chunky. It's aluminium, by the way. Re: We've finally started 71Aug 16, 2007 7:23 pm Ahhh!, now I can see the handles ![]() ![]() Why dont you like the handles, is it not the look you wanted? Mrs B ![]() Re: We've finally started 72Aug 16, 2007 9:51 pm Wow I thought you had those flush door handles too! From a distance you cant tell and they give a really nice straight line across the kitchen which looks great ![]() Re: We've finally started 74Aug 17, 2007 1:12 pm I wanted handles like these, they're less noticeable:

I quite like those (last pic) ones. Re: We've finally started 79Sep 04, 2007 8:39 pm Mek…..you home is coming on very nicely!! Are you pleased so far with colour choices?
I think they look great! The exterior looks fantastic! Love the red as a contrast! How much did you pay for that sink again? I hope you wear yourself out at it, making up for the cost. No doubt hubby will make sure YOU get your moneys worth from it. Can’t wait to see more photos! Can you send me a photo of the exterior when it’s all complete? ![]() Internal and External Building and Colour Consultant Online - Worldwide http://www.denovoconcepts.com Re: We've finally started 80Sep 04, 2007 10:31 pm Casa, there is an undermount version of this sink available. My benchtop is Laminex - I wanted to exactly colour match the cupboards so I didn't have a choice really.
Michelle, I am happy with my colours, couldn't have gone any other way, although I think the red door is too bright. This is a quick photo from today, the exterior is pretty much done: http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x94/renc_photos/3f1dc576.jpg A bit disappointed with Colorbond Woodland Grey, especially garage door as it has a definite green tinge to it. The sink is just a bit over $2,000 retail although I got it through our builder who gets builders' discount from Smeg, so don't know how much it really cost us. Our carpet is being laid, remember my dark grey Feltex carpet question? It looks great in, you were right (yet again). ![]() |
