Browse Forums Building A New House Re: a couple dramas... 81May 08, 2009 12:46 pm we have tiles!! very exciting to see some more progress. they have fixed our bulkhead, and ordered our new benchtop, just waiting for the benchtop to come now.. for some reason our builder paints after the benchtop is in.. which i think is soo strange, i've been looking through here and i couldn't find anyone that has done it in this order. the photos are dark, sorry about that.. we also have towel racks already... even though they haven't painted... i think this is SO weird, it can't be right. why would they do that? Re: Tiling done!! 82May 08, 2009 3:08 pm Hi Cookies We also had chosen Blanco Maple for our benchtops. They offered us the Caesarstone alternative which looks very similar. Only thing is, the Caesarstone doesn't come with the anti bacterial thingy like silestone. We talked them into giving us an upgrade colour (completely white Blanco Zeus) at no extra cost. We are really happy with this choice as we think it looks better than our original option. We have the same colour cabinets as you as well. Em Re: Tiling done!! 83May 08, 2009 3:18 pm Hi Em, Thanks for that... i didn't realize about the antibacterial thing..! should have got a free upgrade out of them too. will definately read that letter when i get home again tonight. sounds like you have good taste Building first home in Melbourne - Hilton NBG 24E (changed dramatically) inspection done... just waiting now for finalization!!!!!!! Re: Tiling done!! 85May 08, 2009 8:13 pm Wow another NBG home about to beat me to the post!!! Looks gorgeous Cookies. We only got our towel racks in this week. Our bathrooms are painted though - although they'll need to repaint around them anyway as they made a mess! Love your bathroom colours. I so wish we did tiled bases. Fi has moved in!! Re: Tiling done!! 86May 08, 2009 10:16 pm Great colour choices Cookies. You must be pleased to see it all come together nicely. It is odd putting your towel rails on before painting. Someone's being efficient! Re: Tiling done!! 87May 09, 2009 9:24 am Perhaps they will remove them to paint. We have the plugs in the wall ready for ours. But no rails up. They are still tucked away in a cupboard. Re: Tiling done!! 88May 09, 2009 10:57 am Tiles look awesome cookies! Wish we had gone for tiled shower bases too. Our painters are coming in before tiling and I think the benchtop is going to be one of the last things installed. I think your SS is just getting things done for you so good on him! Re: painting has started!!1 94Jun 04, 2009 7:16 pm Sorry guys, haven't been able to post, But I can say that I am VERY happy with the paint work, there has been no paint on any fixtures. Seems they are double handling with things but they definately removed the towel racks to paint. Flooring should start tomorrow and yesterday our driveway was poured! Very exciting times, alot is happening Building first home in Melbourne - Hilton NBG 24E (changed dramatically) inspection done... just waiting now for finalization!!!!!!! Re: painting has started!!1 95Jun 04, 2009 7:27 pm I am glad you are happy with the painting. We are just about complete too but have not had the chance to check it out due to painters working long days and crappy weather. When you say flooring, are you meaning tiles and carpet (too lazy to read back). Is it the norm to do driveway while the tradies are still coming and going. (All new at this building thing). How long til you move now? Re: painting has started!!1 96Jun 04, 2009 9:34 pm Hey Mundie, The tiles are in, but waiting on the carpet and floating floorboards. - floorboards are for the kitchen/living room big middle area and carpets for the bedrooms. And as far as I'm aware, they usually do the driveway at the very end, even sometimes after the first inspection. But obviously not in all cases! Pretty much just those floorings, the shelves in the cupboards, insulation in the ceiling and decking in the alfresco to go... No idea how long it'll be, haven't had much communcation with the builder. But expecting a call for an inspection soon How long do you think you have? Re: Not long to go now! 97Jun 04, 2009 9:49 pm I feel like a broken record when people ask me and have been saying 6-8 weeks for a couple of weeks now. I am hoping for mid July but who knows. We will be talking to our SS next week to try and get more of an idea Re: Not long to go now! 98Jun 05, 2009 8:14 am Glad to hear that they are taking a lot of care with the paint cookies. Shouldn't be too long now. Our SS said 6 weeks including the PCI etc if all goes well. "As a rule of thumb, 3 weeks after carpet is usually the go." Is what we were told with our guy. Building Vancouver 33 - My Thread https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=89689 Re: Not long to go now! 99Jun 05, 2009 11:19 am thanks Ryan, i was thinking it would be around 3-4 weeks. it all depends on how the inspection goes and how long it takes them to fix the things we find really... i think the house will be ready maybe end of next week, then maybe 2 or 3 weeks for the inspections etc? Re: Not long to go now! 100Jun 11, 2009 12:55 pm bit of an update: all the flooring went in before and during the long weekend! this includes: driveway, carpets, floorboards and half of the decking (they didn't order enough wood for the decking in the alfresco, so it's currently half done with the new batch been delivered but no sign of the trady to finish the job in a whole week...) there isn't much at all left now, just the insulation in the ceiling and finish off the wir fit out and that decking... hoping to hear from the builder to schedule our inspection! Building first home in Melbourne - Hilton NBG 24E (changed dramatically) inspection done... just waiting now for finalization!!!!!!! It's possible but a soak well is usually much larger. Your 'soak well' only holds 424 litres when full. What is your soil type? Soak wells need sandy soils. 10 9011 Finally got the Soakwell at my house sucked out. Now I’m looking for ideas on how to hide it as it’s a bit of an eye sore. I’m thinking I’d like to turf over the… 0 3275 i would suggest nothing is unreasonable for PCI. we did all sorts, including checking the hot water, checking all the GPO's had power, testing that the showers were… 9 98688 |
